Is it just me or does anybody else think that the cR to rank up are ridiculously out of proportion with how many cR you earn per game? it feels like i have to play 100 games to rank up because i only get about 1500 cR per match unless i got a nice slot machine bonus or a massive jackpot
You get more credits per game, the higher rank you are. I get about 3000cR minimum per game, when I first started Reach, I think I got like 500cR. Not quite sure though.
Use custom challenges, you’ll rank up faster.
You don’t need to earn as many credits at the lower ranks because it takes far less credits between ranks. Don’t worry, you’ll earn more the higher you rank up.
Just be happy that all you have to do to rank up in Reach is to play the game.
i’m a colonel grade 2 and i still only make about 1500cR per game. and the daily/weekly challenges do help, but you only get a few thousand credits from those. maybe it’s just me. just in relation to other games (crysis 2, battlefield bad company 2, battlefield 3), it seems to take a painstakingly slow time to rank up in Reach
Now that “I am Legend” I’ve given up trying. It has been at least three months since I got that rank and I’m only a quarter through.
Just wait, you’re only a Colonel right now. I’m about halfway through Eclipse, and I still need another 1.5 million until I reach Nova. It’s not supposed to be easy to rank up. It supposed to feel like an accomplishment.
700,000 cR from Field Marshall -> Hero.
It’s hell ):

So you feel accomplished after ranking up in Reach? Because it isn’t hard at all to rank up, just time consuming.
i agree. and i wish, that since it’s supposed to be an “accomplishment,” they’d reward us more heftily. a new piece of purely aesthetic armor isnt enough

They do get pretty crazy but since rank is a time based system rather than skill, forget about it and just enjoy the game
I’m about 150,000-100,000 away from Hero
It is skill in a way, you get about 300,000 from upgrading commendations so you have to be good to upgrade the commendations or it is all time
True. Skill does help you rank up faster but it is still time. Being an inheritor doesn’t mean being skilled.
Play more than 5 games a day and you’ll find your self ranking up. The difficulty to rank up is relative to the person. For those who play 8 hours of Halo a day, it’s fairly easy to rank up.
Best advice I can give you is to not quit your matches. The more games you complete the higher your match bonus gets, that’s why it’s so low in the beginning. I’m a Brigadier3 and I’m getting about 5k per game just in match and performance bonuses. Also, do all the challenges, every day. They’re life savers! It may not seem like a lot, but that 8,000 credits a day can save so much time in ranking up. That’s 56,000 credits just in dailies, and add onto that an average 20k weekly challenge and that’s almost 80,000 credits a week. Factor in the amount of time you spend playing each day and you can easily make enough to rank up. I started on Monday with 19,000 credits, but I played each day, did the challenges, and now I’m about to do the weekly one, and I’m at 230,000 and am almost to General.
Goes to show if you put in the time, you’ll see results pretty quickly.
> They do get pretty crazy but since rank is a time based system rather than skill, forget about it and just enjoy the game
I wish more people would do just that. I feel like no one actually plays reach. They simply go into matchmaking to get cR but not really play at all. I don’t even know what rank I am or how much cR I have saved. I care that little about it since rank in this game means nothing.
> I’m about 150,000-100,000 away from Hero
I’m only 881000 away from Nova
What are custom challenges and how do you set them?
I just got to General a few hours ago
