Would you like it if in halo 4, you can sprint towards a cover or corner and have it turn to third person to see what is around it? You could also be able to shoot, just the bullets wont nearly be as accurate. I think it could fit in well with halo.
Nope it slows down gameplay.
Run and gun is the best way for a console FPS to operate. Otherwise it comes down to pot-shots which can be random with a controller/auto-aim.
Don’t screw with the Halo formula.

It wouldn’t slow down gameplay, it would be the same thing as hiding around the corner while being shot at, and in fact, speed it up in some cases. Nor does it screw with the formula and gameplay as much as armor abilities does.

Actually. It would.
No. I hate this in a lot of shooters. It makes it feel clunky, like GOW does lots of times. Halo is about fluid movement and having the awareness to know when to pop out.
I think Halo is fine the way it is. People still make use of practically everything (rocks, vehicles, buildings, etc.) as cover, and it really isn’t a part of the gameplay, so to speak. It’s just 2nd nature; if you’re getting shot from somewhere and you don’t have a chance of killing the other guy, then you look for cover to try and survive.
