The covenant today stands the biggest threat to the galaxy now that Cortana has sent a message through the entire system, asking for every known species to aid her.
Halo has evolved so much over the years, and with it that one single army that wants the chief so bad. The covenant. They’ve had redesign after redesign and every game they looked better and better. I can’t wait to see what they’ll look like in the near future. will the elites finally lose weight and look a bit slimmer? will the Jackels look more malnourished? And if the brutes decide to make an appearance in the game, will they shave or grow back 8 months worth of hair? I no doubt have a feeling 343 will bring back the covenants old design but keep that modern 343 look in places. I mean, they did to Halo Wars 2. Now I want to hear your thoughts on this, what do you think the covenant will look like in Halo: Infinite?
I personally started disliking the Covenant’s design from Halo: Reach onward. The Elites just started looking bigger and more monstrous with each entry. To be honest I’m not fond of any of the new designs except the Jackal and the Phantom. I’m a little on the fence about the Banshee.
If anything changes about the Covenant’s design in Halo Infinite I want the Elites and Grunts to revert back to their original design.
I doubt the Covenant will be in Halo Infinite at all, considering we are supposed to have ‘extinguished their light forever’. I think the Banished are going to fill their role in the sandbox, and I imagine they’ll look similar to their appearance in Halo Wars 2.
All Covenant designs from Halo 4 onwards should be scrapped, and they should make something that’s more faithful to the classic designs. I think Halo 3 and Reach give good guidelines on what the Covenant should look like, though I’d say the Elites would benefit being more slender and elegant looking as in Halo CE and 2, and not so hunched as in Halo 3, or as massive as in Halo Reach. And of course, definitely not like the abominations from Halo 4 and 5.

The old Covenant is practically no more but a new Covenant will probably always exist in some form since a lot of races are religious while some will see themselves as the ‘new’ Covenant and some will just be forced labour that is being intimidated by Cortana. Pretty sure we’ll always end up with multiply factions now…the Promethean’s/Flood/Covenant, the Banished.while we may end up with some parts of human faction’s being forced into fighting the Infinity crew, their allies.

I agree, the Elites felt more agile, able warriors then, not like in 4 and 5 where their like two times the size of a Spartan
The Covenant could be fighting for Cortana if they think she is a Forerunner, so it would be nice to see a new armour type for the Covenant and brand new weapons. Maybe they could infuse Covenant technology with Forerunner technology and make hybrid weapons.
…I can just imaging a hunter with floating armour, shooting sentinel beams…

I can agree with everything else except the big foots of the Halo universe, the Halo: Reach elites.
I mean, that design was mostly not a horrible one but it was definitely worse than the original trilogy designs.
Zealot and minor were perhaps not that bad designs but general for example was just an eyesore.
And i guess i dont need to mention H4 forwards design. Though H2A design was step to right direction.
I hope they go back to the classic elite style: more nimble and less brutish. They started looking a bit brutish in Halo Reach (and the armour got a bit out of hand) and have only gotten worse since then. (I have to admit Field Marshall looked pretty cool, but not really what I expected an elite to look like)
Also, the old grunt and jackal design. The jackals look so weird now.
But I have to admit, the new brutes look really dope and, well, brutish. The brutish style that went into the elites new design should be placed here instead as it makes much more sense. Making the elites more nimble and fast and the brutes stronger and more feral would be good for both. Not only from a visual perspective but would also be beneficial from a gameplay perspective. This way they get different roles, kinda like in Halo 2.
I hope the brutes look like Halo 3 and HW2. (Wouldn’t mind having hairy brutes under the H3 armor.)
Elites should look like H2 with some Reach mixed in. Wouldn’t mind seeing elites using the multiplayer armor sets that we get to use either.

If playable elites would return i would imagine they would be a bit hunched again so that their models would be closer to SPARTANs.
And Halo could possibly have its horror moments if the flood will return. As long as its executed properly and not like the “343 quilty spark” level in Anniversary mode with brightened up graphics, removed fog, making that flood goo thing less visible and so on.
Though elites can be horrific enemies too, that golden zealot elite with an sword surely has got many players backing down and get killed with its shield strenght, speed and that 1 swing sword. Obviously i mean first encounters.
So the artstyle could be more classical when it comes to the enemies but its the atmosphere and enemy placement that makes for more horrific setting.

They should abandon everything they did in H4 and H5g and go back to the Bungie designs. Make the elites tall and agile with a proud and “honourable” look, instead of that brutish savage look. Make the jackals not look like retarded dinosaurs.
Sometimes I’m just absolutely befuddled about their unreasonable decisions to overhaul everything Bungie established. Why not build on it and perfect it instead of having to impose their own changes to the artstyle just for the sake of changing stuff?
They’ll probably go with either the halo 2 anniversary or halo wars 2 look which is fine because I loved both. It has also been confirmed somewhere that Cortana is the “leader of the covenant” which makes sense but I hope the banished play a role in infinite and maybe the prometheans because even tho they are annoying to fight I think with some tweaking here and there and some design changes they could be fun to fight
I’m gunning on the Banished becoming the new Covenant- Halo 5’s story double downed on the idea that Jul M’Dama’s faction was virtually wiped out. And if that’s the case, why can’t they have the excuse and freedom to change how the different species look? Just let brutes come back already please

couldnt agree more with the player POV aspect in comparison to player models i just meant when it came to enemy points of view in reference to scale it would probably be different.
For example in every campaign weve played and even multiplayer the elite models if we were able to play as them or not were significantly larger then spartans. maybe the point of view of the player playing the elite would be downscaled however their hitboxes would be more oriented to their actual race size ? (i dont know just a concept after all if you choose to play as a elite instead of a spartan then maybe you suffer the drawback of a larger hitbox in return for just a dope looking elite.
I missed halo 3-reach’s customization . I thought those games seemed limited until i player halo 4-5. I keep saying it; we took a step back with customization since reach.
why stop at elites is another point. I mean weve seen many new enemies at this point and even the flood has started becoming a traditional race in infection game types so why not just have them as a actual customizaable race for a default playable character for use in like custom games or FFA ?
When i say horror i think more on the lines of like a straight up scary as balls Last of us mixed with resident evil type vibe. How awesome would it be to play as like a stranded marine or ODST during the floods invasion during halo 2 that would tie in events of halo 3. (wink* wink* 343.)

It could also be how I think it was in Halo: Reach (not sure if it was the case) as in since elites were standing more upright they had larger hitboxes but their usage was limited to certain gamemodes like invasion. This was fine with me since both teams had turns playing as both species.
But to get the same hitboxes for both species the closest thing that there possibly is, is to do like it was in Halo 3 with the hunched down elites with their more traditional slimmer bodies. The problem with some of these hitboxes were the side view like with some helmets the bullet went through the neck. That would require just some thinking in armor design. The elite model also was a bit deceiving given you had to shoot the top of the back from behind since you couldnt see the head to get a headshot. This would however allow for elites in multiple gamemodes.
So its basically picking what compromises to make if elites could be included in multiplayer.
If its the larger hitbox model then perhaps there could be something like increased movement speed for elites for easier evasions or something like that to compensate for larger hitbox.
And Halo: Reach was definitely the peak for SPARTAN customization but Halo 3 has been perhaps the peak for elite customization.
As for other species, I think the size would be one problem again. But perhaps for things such as brutes could be handled like in Halo: Reach with different gamemodes since they have classes they could have customization options.
Though with flood im not too sure about customization since so far in the games so far there has been 3 models for combat forms for instance and why would someone pick the biggest for instance?
Also, having multiple different playable species could come down to resource management so for now the focus could be having playable elites back properly and get a hold of themselves when making the SPARTAN customization given H5g customization seemed the laziest in years.
And I have definitely waited for Marine/ODST focused game with flood included since Halo 3. The infection forms for one could actually become quite a threat.
