Is there any reasoning behind the way that covenant weapons are designed, color wise? For instance human weapons seem to be the generic gray color with a few exceptions, Jiralhanae weapons seem to follow black with orange lights and Promethean weapons are silverish-grey with orange lights. Covenant weapons seem to use blue like the plasma rifle, purple - carbine, red - concussion rifle, gold - fuel rod.

I thought that maybe color represented power or manufacturer, has there ever been a reason behind this?

Maybe the color of their planets

It’s possible that they simply come from ancient San’Shyum / Sangheili designs. I remember that Covenant architecture mainly comes from old San’Shyum architecture with a vague connection to Forerunner architecture. (or something like that) If the San’Shyum are those responsible for designing the Covenant’s weapons, then I suppose they may be responsible for their colors.
