Do you think/should the Covenant weapons have smart link aiming like the AR (hologram instead of an actual sight), or should they have a physical sight like the BR?
phys sight for AR isn´t possible, neither for magnum or most of the covenant weapons. to get this into “logical” mechanics they need to get attachments to the guns (likely the br, sniper, etc etc already have em´)…
so based on your question i took option A, coz it´s the only one which fits into mechanics and design of the armory
ps: correct me if i am wrong but the only covenant wpn with a “scopething” attached, is the beam rifle, isnt it?!
pss: my thoughts and my opinion is based on the h1-4 covenant weapon design…no squidhead weapons seen in beta
I’m wondering how will the Plasma Riffle look scoped.

Carbine might and needle rifle might, as well as fuel rod… it just kind of depends on perspective? I’m not that deep into the canon to know for sure lol.
OT I hope all Covenant weapons have SS. They could do really cool things with it. I miss the “aim here” function the Elites had in Reach when using plasma weapons. I hope that returns in some fashion… maybe as an Elite trait? Hint hint

Yeah, the AR technically COULD have a sight. The magnum also kind of has a sight too. It’s not flat on the top, it has kind of a little iron sight looking thing. Plus you technically hold the gun up to your face, unlike the AR.
I have no idea how you could aim most covenant weapons other than through a smart link. Only carbine, needle rifle and beam/focus rifles had barrels long enough to “aim down” but even they didn’t have sights.
Slightly off topic, but it seemed like the promethian light rifle would eat your face when you aimed it in H5. Did anyone else think that? It was cool.
Plasma pistol like the magnum, with holographic thingy. Storm rifle like the Assault Rifle I guess. Depends on the gun I guess.
The real Smart Scope is my answer…

seems legit :D…i looked up some art and design stuff from bng und 343i and the magnum actually have a sight but its mostly hidden by the attached reddot laser thing on it…anyway i´m fine with the mix of ss and physical sights on the weapons…pretty curious about what we are gonne see @ e3

Beam rifle, focus rifle, fuel rod gun and plasma launcher have scopes. The rest do not.
CC and Needle Rifle should have smart link.
Lore wise, they need to have the traditional scope, covenant weapons are linked to a lense/film on covenant eyes, the lense/film links their eyes to the weapon directly.

this is what i meant ^^…the "scope"attachments are just some kind of displays on the wpn model
I think the covenant weapons will benefit from smart-scopes as their scopes are kinda already holographic (carbine etc.). Wouldn’t make sense from a canon point of view, as spartans’ smart scope is said to work specially with UNSC weapons (Human technology - only works with Human weapons). The light rifle didn’t have a smart scope, instead the forerunner tech changed itself into a scope. I reckon we won’t see much of the covie weapons using Smart scope, it would be cool though

That’s the thing it can make sense because of the joint operations between Sangheili and Humans I’m sure it’s possible humanity now has the knowledge to utilize their tech with the covenant weapons interface.
More or less I feel people will use Smart Scope for all the long range weapons/weapons with scope attachments. The close range automatics wont really be using Smart Scope (except maybe SMG)
