Covenant species as armor cores

Or since those asymmetrical multiplayer games are so popular, like Dead by Daylight, a cool mode would be two players play as a Spartan and the rest of the lobby play as the Banished. They need to stop the Spartans from achieving some set objectives.

We have 2 elites, 2 sniper Jackals etc. Pretty cool custom game. The next step up from Infection.

Actually playing as some of those in normal multiplayer would ruin the game imo.

yeah only elites, brutes, and kig-yar can fit in standard multiplayer.

And for kig-yar they would have to stand differently.

A Promethian Soldier I would love to have a Core for it

An Elaboration of My Earlier Comment

The alien species could each have their own cores separate from that of the Spartans, for example:

Elites Cores – Mercenary, Justice, Hierophant, Schism and Storm

Mercenary Core – Banished armour from Halo Wars 2 and Infinite – E.g. Combat (Mercenary), Defence (Mercenary), Ultra (Mercenary), Assassin (Mercenary), War Master (Mercenary), Executioner, Blade Master

Justice Core – Mainly Halo CE and Halo 2 Classic – E.g. Combat (Justice), Defence (Justice), Ranger (Justice), Specialist, Rebreather, Councillor, Guardsman (Elite), Supremacist, Shadow

Hierophant Core – Strictly Halo Reach Armour – E.g. Combat (Hierophant), Officer (Hierophant), Ultra (Hierophant), Ranger (Hierophant), Infiltration, Assassin (Hierophant), Field Marshall, Field Master

Schism Core – Mostly Halo 3 Armour - E.g. Combat (Schism), Assault, Ascetic, Flight, Commando, Hunter, Arbiter, Kaidon

Storm Core – Armour of Jul ‘Mdama’s Covenant Remnant - Combat (Storm), Officer (Storm), Ranger (Storm), Assassin (Storm), War Master (Storm)

Many ranks/armour have more than one name but are represented using synonymous terms to form a cohesive, universal system. E.g. “Minor” being used in Reach for Combat armour, “Zealot” being used for Assassin, “Warrior “and “Warlord” being War Master, etc.

Brute Cores – Banished, Rukt, Respite, Loyalist

Banished Core – Halo Wars 2 and Infinite – E.g. Light (Banished), Leader (Banished), Captain, Bezerker, Marksman, Grenadier, Chieftain (Banished), Legion Master, War Chief, Banished Chieftain

Rukt Core – Mostly Halo 2 with the Chieftain from Halo Wars 1 – E.g. Light (Rukt), Leader (Rukt), Guardsman (Brute), Chieftain (Rukt), Brute Chieftain

Respite Core – Strictly Halo Reach – E.g. Light (Respite), Guard (Respite), Chieftain (Respite)

Loyalist Core – Strictly Halo 3 – E.g. Power, Guard (Loyalist), Stalker, Chieftain (Loyalist), War Chieftain

Each core has its own strict design principles, offering players a choice of preference but with the ability to mix and match across cores. You should be able to tell instantly which core a piece of armour belongs to, but you have the freedom to select pieces from any core.

For example, you can easily see the more sharklike appearance of the Combat (Justice) helmet versus the bulkier Combat (Hierophant) or the detailed Combat (Schism). You go for the Combat (Justice) because you like it the most, but you’re happy to opt for the Ranger (Storm) chest piece and Blade Master arms from different cores.

There is plenty of armour to go around. These cores could really inspire an enormous range of unique and memorable armour variants within alien “body types”.

Choose body type: Spartan, Elite, Brute

Choose body build: (whatever the current body types are called)

Would love it if the artists at 343i saw this. Seeing such individualised cores, call-backs to previous games alongside utilisation of modern armour would bring so much to Infinite’s customisation options, truly representing people’s online Halo identity through some real choice that we don’t currently have in Infinite just yet. I don’t see this level of freedom coming in the short term, but how amazing would it be if we got something like this one day? Infinite is meant to last ten years after all. This would be one way to keep the players coming back.

I would like a kig-yar spartan as well, that would be awesome

And be spartans i think

Sorry for the bump, but a realization hit me.

covenant speices as “cores” would be a really good thing to have with forge as it would allow some interesting custom games.

Just imagine an Combat sim mode, where one team is elites ther spartans fighting to see who is the best. Another mode which is infection but grunts replace the zombies.

A PvPvE mode, where one team is a group of spartans trying to do an objective while the other team is a group of jackal mercs trying to sabotage it.

Yeah I know it might be a lot of work… and some of this boils down to me wanting to see a skirmisher driving a ghost.

Uhhhhhhh this.

I’ve said for years about including alternate races for each species, and being able to represent them and play as them would benefit everyone across custom games. Clans would have a hey-day.

Still think even with the inclusion of these playable species and the body types, would make Infinite a Halo Simulator and being able to recreate conflicts across the canon would be so amazing.

(I’d also just love to shoot more than just spartans)

would love to see Jackal and Grunt Cores as well. 3-5 saw a number of newer cores. They could even make the Jackal Bralwer as its own core.

You dress up as a grunt in fall guys now. Does that count? lol

Well fall guys is basically a grunt simulator so yeah it counts some.

Honestly the best way to do it is having the Covenant species spit up into classes you can play as in specific Invasion styled modes. Of course there would also be a myriad of ODSTs, Marines, Grunts & Jackals spawning as Bots.

Brutes would all be first person with the exception of Chieftains.

Grunts and Jackals would all be third person.

Elites, of course first person as always.

This would, obviously require a lot of effort and work from 343, but I bet a Warzone/Invasion 2.0 game mode would be very worth it.
