Covenant Rebuilding (Thoughts?)

So as we know after the Human-Covenant War. The Covenant Empire split into various splinter factions like the Galatic Empire in the Star Wars EU and while the Covenant as we knew it is long gone. Does anyone see a possibility of one faction eventually absorbing the others and maybe even rebuilding the Covenant empire again after the Created conflict is taken care of. No offense to the UNSC and all that, but now they are the underdogs again and we’ve seen that and while I wouldn’t want a Second Human-Covenant War.

I do miss the threat the Covenant once held (not their splinter factions.)

Besides that with whatever 343i has in store for the universe post Created. The Flood is still a liable threat in the galaxy and while the UNSC does have counter measures in place. I see a coordinated Covenant Fleet being more successful then their UNSC counterparts as they can glass the infestation from orbit and move on. That is just one reason I’d like to see the Covenant return to prominence but not as a enemy of course and more of a galatic power that is more than capable of challenging the UNSC.

Thoughts of the Covenant rebuilding as say the Neo Covenant or something?

I think the splinter groups won’t grow any bigger than Jul ‘Mdama’s group just because they don’t have a common goal to rally behind like the Covenant had. The Covenant believed in the Great Journey, which converted species to join the Covenant off a religious goal, but the new factions don’t have a main goal. I think they exist just to survive, and so will never be as big as the OG Covenant.

I do not think they will become like the original covenant and the wars within the same covenant hinders their growth. In addition there are already new spartans, humans have help from elites and some other races.

The Banished are the closest thing to a rebuilt Covenant. Jul’s Covenant has fallen apart so that’s a no-go. But to be fair, it’s hard to truly realize and visualize just how dauntingly massive the Covenant empire was at the height of its power. Even the Banished, who are quite massive, have a long way to go towards being as big as the Covenant used to be. The Covenant would send entire battle fleets to their death to take out a planet… and if that didn’t work they’d just send another fleet until the job was done. That’s how many ships and troops they had to spare.

To your point OP, I find it an intriguing idea to have a reformed Covenant that is big enough to rival the UNSC, but not be a direct and immediate enemy. Rather just another power in the galaxy that has the capability of taking over if they so choose. I also like the idea of perhaps a three way power struggle between the UNSC, Banished, and Neo-Covenant (as you aptly name this possible faction). There’s already distinct art styles for each faction, so game play could be very cool, plus three way fights are one thing Halo does so well.
