Covenant not speaking English.

I hope to dear god that the proper Covenant back in our galaxy will still speak English when/if we meet them in Halo 5/

Do you think the Storm only speak their alien language because they want to become less like humans(as they hate them) and more cultural?

Also I heard that this Covenant could be from a planet that was hidden away from the rest of the Covenant, so is this why they don’t speak English? Because they won’t have been in contact with any humans and won’t know their language.

The Storm Covenant Elites come from the world of Husduros, they didn’t even know the war was over and didn’t bother learning human languages because there was no need.

So they knew of the war then? That’s cool then.

I think my main problem with this the origins of the Storm is that these guys don’t fully understand what they’re doing.
But that’s better than there still being some parts of the Covenant who are religious fanatics, I mean when I heard that may be the case, I thought; so what was the point of every Halo game? Good to see the Covenant are on our side now and this Storm is completely an offshoot.

Apparently Elites are japanese now…

Is everything just non-canon now?

Isn’t that their language…?

-_-

Come on now. Yeah, their language sounds like Japanese…but I also heard words that vaguely sound Spanish. They are speaking Sangheili, NOTHING is non-canon.

wait if they were not there when the covies split there should be brutes, hunters, kig yar, uggoy, and elites as captains.

they dont know truth mercey and regret are dead.

Considering the origins of the Storm, I don’t we’ll encounter any English-speaking members of the Storm. That’s not such a bad thing, though. At least antagonists like the Prometheans, the Didact, and the Ancient evil will probably be speaking english to some extent.

does IWHBYD skull translate their langauge for us ?

Jul 'Mdama obviously fills them in on when and how the war ended, touching on the betrayal of the Prophets and the Brutes. We know Grunts and Jackals are recruited, but not how. Grunts are probably forcibly conscripted in and the Jackals are likely mercenaries. The Hunters likely join along out of respect for the Elites, I suppose. Drones and Brutes are out because they made up the Loyalist forces and are thus enemies of the Elites.

wait what roles do each of them have ?
grunts: weak easy to kill small low leve
kig yar: hire species to kill for the covies
drones: were the eingineers but now are the _____ ?
Brutes: sheer brute force most loyal brutal lead covie loyalist
Elites: were the commanders of the covies main infantry along with brutes
hunters: I have no idea

The people on these forums never cease to amaze me…

Yeah well for that matter they use the words Forerunner and Requiem as if there was no translation in their language

Surely it shouldn’t matter what language they’re speaking as Chief’s suit has translation software? It wasn’t that they were actually speaking English, it’s just what we heard because of the translator.

How does it make sense if he could understand them before and then all of a sudden just can’t?

They have the same roles they have always had, it’s just that the Brutes and Drones are not part of the Storm. The Elites also probably lead the religious aspect of the Storm now with Jul 'Mdama being the closest thing to a Prophet.

Here is everything you need to know, just know there are Glasslands and Thursday War:

Dossier: Storm Covenant

Dossier: Jul 'Mdama

facepalm They’re speaking a Sangheili dialect. That’s all there is to it.

I think your over thinking things a little bit
they were talking to other elites I don’t see any reason for them to not be talking their native tongue
