So recently I thought, do the Covenant have any naval forces? Someone recently told me that they had Banshees with underwater capabilities. I wonder if they have any naval ships(battleships, destroyers, aircraft carrier, etc.). That person also told me the UNSC had aircraft carriers. Do they have any other naval ships though? If either factions have more types, great.
Aren’t all the huge spaceships technically considered part of their naval forces? Apparently that’s how it is for the UNSC. Underwater banshees would be very cool though

Not quite the same.
> The UNSC Navy (UNSCN)[2] is the branch of the UNSC Armed Forces responsible mostly for naval warfare and operations in space, though they still operate in the oceans with their terrestrial arm.
Actually, we don’t know if those carriers on Longshore were UNSC Navy. They could just as well have been UNSC coast guard, who may very well handle oceanbound issues while the full Navy dealt with space operations.

This is true.

Their spacecraft can operate underwater, so I would assume not.
Source. Complete fleet: 26 CRS/CCS cruisers (can’t tell for certain which cruiser classes are which, since they all look alike - and I don’t see the side fin-like structures that would identify RCSs, and not a single one is shown from above so that form of identification is a non-starter as well) and two CAS assault carriers.
> That person also told me the UNSC had aircraft carriers.
Also true, but as stated above, it’s unclear as to whether or not the UNSC Navy operates it or not.
> Do they have any other naval ships though?
There might be a wet-navy (surface?) combat class of ship in the UNSC arsenal, given a radio conversation in Reach:
> - Dragon X-ray: “Blue Delta, this is Dragon X-ray. We are on the ground and three mikes out from the objective. Over.”

If anybody says ‘battleship’ I’mma club them. Chances are, it’s some kind of MMIX-A future-Burke. Anything else that isn’t a sub is a waste of material that could (and should) go to the space-capable Navy.

Well written. I love this

I think the cruisers seen in the second picture are likely CRS-class, based on the green lighting.
