Covenant Leadership During Halo: Reach

Who was in charge of the advance recon of Reach, and what happened to him after his monumental failure?

First his recon team gets spotted (alerting the humans to their presence), then they lost a Corvette after a failed attempt to get to the artifact, then they gave him a freaking Supercarrier and he messed that up, so Thel’s fleet had to clean up his mess (and by this point he’s likely WAY behind schedule), then he let Halsey blow up the artifact, so it was all for naught.

This has to be one of the largest blunders in Covenant history, do the Fleet/Ground Battles games touch on this? Also, I wonder how miffed he was that Noble was thwarting him at literally every turn.

That would be one Supreme Commander Rho 'Barutamee. And yes, the Fleet/Ground Battles games are exactly where this is touched upon. Rho’s failure was great, but given that all they did to Thel (who allowed a Halo ring to be destroyed) was make him a suicide warrior, I dunno if Rho would’ve gotten more than a little shame from the High Council.

Though I have to imagine the loss of any single supercarrier must be felt by the whole empire, and a historical event. That can’t happen remotely often, and there can’t be that many of them.

Well,Barutamee most likely died on the Long Night of Solace,so he wouldnt get an punishment for his failure.

Nice, reading up on him was pretty interesting.

Had he somehow survived the destruction of LNOS, I’m sure that’s at least grounds for a serious demotion right?

I now understand that lol, thanks. I didn’t know he was on board LNOS, so yeah he was pretty screwed. Kinda poetic how his own pride and greed led to his end, and he didn’t even see it coming.
