Any one care to elaborate on the reason why there most probably will be covenant and other human, besides the chief in halo 4? Thought the chief was like in another place far far away after the portal broke down in halo 3, which is not reachable by any thing at that particular time?
P.S. there might be a similar post like this, if anyone could post me the link, it would be very helpful thanks.
Simply, Covenant is such a big part of the Halo universe that they cant just throw them away. That would be your answer.
If u want a story background, read Glasslands. It is basicaly not Covenant anymore, but many small factions (Arbiters faction, fanatics, pirates etc…) fighting for theyr own reasons. Wich of the factions will show in Halo 4 and how will they fit into the story, that will everybody find out when we actually get to play the game.
It is a good question Player215747603 and the answer is hard to consider and even more painful to behold! Halo Video Games Inc. have taken over the Halo series of video games even though all the Halos are broken and asleep! It is a difficult time to make a sequel so their brave solution is to make everything exactly what we have already seen before, which is a generous tactic that won’t confuse us too much down the line.
Hard at the work of writing stories, a new adventure is being told where Elites have changed their minds about being friends with human, and the Ancient Evil Forerunner have teleported all of Chief’s friends to the farest Reaches (is that an Easter’s Egg?!?) of space so they can team up with him.
Watch out for Cortana turning crazy, just like we saw in Halo 3rd!
That I can accept. But that’s not the questions. Question is, why are there covenant, or even human on the shield world, when it is located so far from any human or covalent settlements? The only reason why the chief got there was due to the slipspace device collapsing. I thought it was impossible to travel there?
The new exciting story for the mysterious new trinity of Haloes 4-6 starts with an Ancient Evil Awakening (Forerunner) and teleporting everybody (Covalent and human fighters) to where Master Chief is (the far flung shield world at the end of space). They have done this because like thirty-four 3 industry they are keen to relive the excitement of Halo 1 and Halo 3 and Halo 2.
the only humans in halo 4 campagin are the ones who are on the unsc infinity and they are there because the infinity was looking to colonize new planets and when they went too close to requiem (the planet) it pulled them in it and as for the covenant , those elites are not the ones on the arbiter’s side and are probably on that planet to collect religious artifacts or stuff like they always do
At the end of glasslands, humans get there mits on a lot of forerunner tech! One would presume this included foreruner slip space engines! We know at the end of glasslands that the infinity was still in development and still a secret. Using all cove/forerunner tech that humans had come across! It was originally built for the war.
They come across installation 07 and meet the master builder, who tells them about the precursors. They immediately bow to him and he sends them to requiem to find said precursors.

SPOILER
In Halo: Glasslands by 2553, they found a fleet of Forerunner ships in the shield world Onyx that were equipped with advanced Forerunner slipspace technology. In Cryptum Forerunner ships were able to travel in between planets for a small amount time.
Like BlowyCrab said, the UNSC Infinity is the most advanced ship in the UNSC at the time.

> My theroy anyways…
These covie are unrelated to the covies of old. They’ve been evolving and living on this so called shield world for the last 100,000 years. This also conveniently explains the physical differences of the grunts.
Of course this is just a guess and if some Halo nerd wants to tell me this would break canon they should feel free.

I think the easiest way to go about answering this with what little we know is…
Cortana said she’d drop a beacon. “It could take awhile for anyone to find us… years even.” Welp, it’s been four years. My guess is the Ex-Covenant faction came upon the beacon.
My guess for Infinity? ONI probably had a vague idea of where this treasure trove of Forerunner artifacts was from other Forerunner tech they had access to while in the Onyx dyson sphere. The onyx sphere probably had a map of sorts of other important shield installations. Knowing ONI, they know a lot more about stuff than they let on.
I think the Covenant are just there by chance. What, with them being in a Civil War and such, you wouldn’t expect them to be so far out-system.
