Covenant first, then new threat

i believe that Halo 4’s first… 3? levels should only have the Covenant in it, but then the 4th level should start with covenant, and about half-way throught the level introduce the new threat.

agree? disagree?

At this point, I don’t see why the Covenant would be the primary threat for the first THREE levels (out of… Ten?) because they aren’t exactly the “Covenant” anymore after Halo 3.

I guess this would pay homage to Halo 1 and the discovery of the Flood halfway through…

that was my idea, since Halo CE at first made you think it was only about the covenant, but then out of a no were the flood comes in and becomes the primary threat. thats what i want with Halo 4

I have a feeling that we’ll start out by fighting Forerunner machines, to then have the new threat come in full blast. After that, we’d see a bit of Covenant here and there, but no in any real important amount.

I say its way to early to even guess.

Disagree. I imagine that the first level will contain mostly Sentinels and other Forerunner security measures. Second level will probably introduce the UNSC and something related to our new enemy. This would be like encountering low level enemies without the nature of the enemy being revealed. Halfway through the game, remaining Covie factions should show up with more reveals about the new threat, and finally, the final few levels would be the big story reveals.

i really hope there is not a Halo2 type of ending in halo4. The big cliffhangar

I’d rather have just 1 level or 1 skirmish with the Covenant/Covenant species. Reach was the last time I wanted to fight the Covenant. I want to fight the new enemies in 90%-100% in the game. So I’m hoping the Covenant is hardly in the game…

really? i respect your opinion, but what i want is Covenant 40% of the game and New Threat 60% of the game. They are still the main threat, but the Covenant is still iconic and a part of the trilogy

Nope, that’s Halo 5.

huh? U dont know that.
THey could do it with halo4 for 5. And then we have to wait 3 years. But i hope that the new Xbox comes out before Halo5 is announced.

Agree with him. Why do we need the covenant again? Its getting boring. Something new would be better

I’d say first level, only. Then have them sparsely in the second, then they should be GONE till the last level (if at all).

I was joking. Halo 2 was the second in the trilogy, and thus had a cliffhanger. Halo 5 is the second in a new trilogy, and thus will have a cliffhanger.

It makes less sense when I spell it out, but almost every trilogy I’ve encountered, book, game or otherwise was laid out like this:

First: Major victory, but the fight isn’t over
Second: Devastating loss, ends with cliffhanger
Third: Final victory against all odds.

Actually, I would like the first few levels to be fighting the new threat, and then the covenant would return near the end as some surprise.

but the Covenant IS Halo. its in all the media, advertisements, toys, books etc. Look at the original trilogy, the Flood played a larger part, but who got all the attention? Covenant and UNSC. You cant just limit the covenant to one level! sure, the new threat should play a larger role, but the Covenant is the heart of halo, and it should stay like that

No they are not. Its getting boring to fight the same enemy through 5 games already. We dont need them again.

Kind of agree, but I think the Covenant should remain as allies. They should at least be a big part of the story.

We don’t need the Covenant in the game anymore. The fight is supposed to be finished with them.

End of H3

I’m sure there will be some Covie allies and enemies all throughout the Campaign. Hopefully they’ll show up halfway through.
