So on my hundredth or so viewing of the new trailer (only slight exaggeration), I began to wonder who the covenant were fighting–there seemed to be no UNSC presence apart from Osiris, and there were explosions going off everywhere. So I watched again, and noticed that there’s a Phaeton and a soldier at around 2:45 shooting at the covenant forces; at 1:50, too, there seems to be a forerunner turret that gets destroyed in the upper-middle of the screen. SO, it seems that for whatever reason the Covenant are once again fighting the Prometheans.
What do you guys think the reason for this is? Do you think the Chief/Blue Team could be fighting alongside Prometheans against Covenant at some point in the game? I feel like this opens up a lot of possibilities both gameplay- and story-wise.
Well from what I understand of the story thus far what we see in the Campaign cinematic are some of Juls fleet (and Promethean’s/Armigers) facing off against some of the Arbiters fleet both sides being comprised of ex-covenant species IT would indeed look like they are fighting the convenant. But it’s instead one ex Covie fleet vs a splinter cell Covie fleet.
if you re watch the first Locke mission that we saw at E3 you here Locke mentions that arbiters forces are engaging Jul’s and that the arbiter has been waiting a long time to finish them off.
also I think that when playing as chief you will have blue team,some of arbiters forces and some Promethean/Armiger back up seeing as some are controlled by the eternal warden while others are still under the Didact/Jul’s control.
Perhaps we’re going back to a 3-way conflict, between Covenant, Human, and [Other].
The planet that they’re on has a UNSC presence on the ground. So it could be them shooting at the covy ships.
Well the forerunners were controlled by the Didact in 4 and the covenant worshipped the Didact. So with him dead, the promeathean are no longer under his control and the covenant have no one to worship. Because before they were controlled by the Didact the promeatheans attacked everything.
