What do you guys think it’ll be? I’m actually a bit excited and well freaked as to what tech the Covenant in Halo 4 will use as a counter to the SAW and Railgun. No it’s not the Storm Rifle because the Storm Rifle is the Plasma Repeater 2.0. I’m thinking 343 will have a turret like gun for the Covenant’s answer to the SAW but we’ve never actually seen a LMG from the Covenant. As for the Railgun, I’m interested as to what 343 pulls for it. The Covenant had no counter to the Guass Turret, and their answer to the MAC Cannon was the Cleansing Beam.

We’ve seen the Fuel Rod Gun in one of the Spartan Ops videos, so I guess that would be the counterpart to the Rocket Launcher.
I agree with Rzibara personally; rather than adding more Covenant weapons to “counter” the Saw, I’d say it is more likely that Promethean weapons will fill the gap.
Besides, the Covenant were imitative rather than innovative, right? Don’t really see them developing new weapons at this point

I was under the impression that the Covies took Forerunner tech and altered it to suit their needs. Given that their entire system of government has collapsed, included the dissolution of their religion and economy, doesn’t it make sense that they wouldn’t be churning out new types of weapons?

I disagree. If they do that, they’ll have a riot on their hands.
And the sniper looks a bit like the Light Rifle.

the storm rifle was probably the biggest waste of a new gun. they could have redesigned the repeater and buffed it and it wouldve been like the storm rifle.
Meh, I’ll wait till the game comes out. I have some worries, but till I play the game it doesn’t really matter lol

The Beam Rifle IS back. Though to be honest I’d much rather have a buffed Focus Rifle. the Beam Rifle is basically a Sniper reskin in terms of skillsets required to handle it. Where most Covie/UNSC equivalents in the series are meant to use a radically different set of skills to accomplish a similar role. (Such as the Banshee/Falcon, Sword/Shotgun, Sticky/Frag etc)
