Covenant Allied With Cortana?!

Since the Covenant were “defeated” by the Swords at Sunaion, they’d have to go somewhere! What if the Covenant answers Cortana’s call and ally with her? Then the Covenant wouldn’t be useless, and it could be used to carry on the plot.

Maybe, it would be weird if you had a Halo game without fighting the Covenant.

Kinda expecting this really. Will be surprised to see if the Covenant are in for a different reason or not at all.

covenant are gonna disappear most likely or blindly worship cortana like all the beings they never understood

Plausible theory, let’s face it the majority of covenant seek a ‘higher power’ for guidance, and many still believe in The Great Journey.

I doubt the Covenant will go away so that is a possible way to keep them in game. However, I doubt that they’ll be allied because Cortana wants the AI to be the bearers of the Mantle while the Covenant wants to fire the Halo rings & if the rings are fired for them to begin the “Great Journey” whom is she going to assume the Mantle over?

Unless she goes with it so that when all life is extinguished, she can create the next civilizations to be wholly peaceful from the get go.

But the hole point of her turning is to make the universe “peaceful”

I was hoping all the Covenant would be executed or something. But I wouldn’t mind seeing the Brutes again, but I’d rather have the Flood come back.

I think that was the reason she wanted blue team to stay in the cryptum so she could fire the halo’s to start over or just have artificials take over the mantle.
I think the covenant that still believe in the great journey will answer her call and she will use them to help fire the Halos. Maybe we get brutes back

I have a feeling the flood will somehow end up in the picture. Either Everyone teams up against the flood or Cortana goes guilty spark on us and really wanna fire them up.

They all went to defend power cores on Genesis.

She basically gave everyone an ultimatum.
The created must join her in peace to uphold the mantle, and all biological that do not agree with this imposed “peace treaty” will be deleted, and created over again.

Yeah I’ve been thinking for awhile and also others that they might side with Cortana. We could be totally wrong about this theory but it’s possible as of right now.

This is what I’m worried about, and it’ll be so stupid if the renegade Covenant ally with her. Seriously, not even Cortana would allow such a thing I imagine.

nah no chance

My theory is that the covenant remnant WILL side with Cortana because near the end of Halo 5 she sent a message to “all the living creatures of the galaxy” including the Sangheili (probably the most religious of all the species in the covenant remnant). And so I think that the Sangheili (Covenant remnant) will hear that message and think of Cortana as a god especially since she is in with all this mantle of responsibility and domain stuff ( haven’t read the forerunner trilogy just yet so sorry I don’t really know what all that forerunner jazz is but I do know its important stuff). But one thing that makes this REALLY interesting is that since Cortana was built by humans, and its no secret, the covenant remnant will find out eventually and there minds will explode. I cant imagine what they would do once they find out! This, if I am right, is pretty much what the 3 San shyuum prophets were trying to keep from the rest of the covenant which is why they declared all humans as heretics and for them to be completely annihilated because the prophets found out that the humans and forerunners were pretty close or something like that ( again I am a bit rusty with all this forerunner stuff so I am sorry if I get some things wrong) and they wanted to stay in power so they tried to kill off all humans before the covenant found out the truth about the humans and threw the san shyuum off their shiny, floating thrones. So, again, if I am correct with all this forerunner lore, then the covenant remnant will eventually find out that the humans built Cortana meaning that the covenant remant will either think humans are gods, or they will completely rage and deny the truth ( kind of like in Halo 2 when 343 guilty spark revealed the true purpose of the Halo rings to Tarturus and he was in complete denial and raged). Anyway I hope that all this lore is correct and if not please correct me.

It would be nonsensical in a way because Cortana is against all sentient life forms who commit war. I don’t think the covenant would have any reason to ally with Cortana and the prometheans unless they want to go to “their” heaven as called the great journey.

Agreed, but it is weird to have a halo game without the Flood! I know we have had several, but I miss them!

The Old Covenant will side with Cortana, they still look up to the forerunners, and she is in control of forerunner tech. If they follow Cortana’s instructions she wont destroy them. She clearly doesn’t have full control over all forerunner constructs like Warden or Exuberant Witness( I hope she sticks around, I like her), so others might be out there that will fight her. She could find something for them to do.

I am waiting for someone to return to the games, after reading the Forerunner Saga, which seem to have influenced halo 5 story, I’m hoping they make a return, either for, or against Cortana. Name below.

Guilty Spark

Actually Cortana is against all sentient life forms who will not join her and instead will stay to there old ways. And as far as I know, none of the species in the covenant remnant still believe in the Great Journey anymore. Although they still worship the forerunners and since they worship the forerunners they may also worship Cortana since she is in good with all this mantle of responsibility and domain stuff (again, haven’t read the forerunner trilogy yet so don’t judge).

My speculation
The covenant, even without the prophets, is still a massive force. Hundreds of ships and thousands of troops. The loss of their leader did bring desertion, but many elite generals are hard headed and will fight until there’s nothing left. They’ve already lost several races though, it’s possible that more will leave the covenant.
However, Cortana addressed all the races individually in her announcement. I think that they will realize their common enemy, and possibly you’ll be fighting with the covenant. Or they will split off and try to fight on their own. It’s not likely that they would join her.

So basically you’ll probably fight random groups fighting for themselves, but there is possibility of alliances.

Although she might be able to use them to help fight humanity, especially if she can control the rings.
