This is my second montage I made a month ago and haven’t gotten around to posting it here on these forums. Hope you enjoy! Feedback is welcome.
Yet another montage dominated by DULL sniping. The use of PV is also unimpressive and the christian rock music is even more of a deterrent.
Dull sniping? Gotta laugh at that one, I mean I don’t know if you have made a montage or not but honestly, I would rather play the christian rock band which has a nice tune to it instead of putting a song on the edit that drops the F-bomb every 5 seconds when there are some people out there watching this montage that are way under 17. I also chose the songs that I did because well THEY AREN"T IN ANY OTHER MONTAGE! I apologize for being original. Oh and another thing the sniping was 50% in this montage. Come on dude next time you try to critique get your facts straight and put into consideration the editor is appealing to all audiences without making his channel look like an embarrassment.
Sorry, you’re not doing yourself any favors with a response like that. The only redeeming quality about your montage was that it didn’t have lens flare.
Sorry man, but I got to agree with Dragnet 38 here. The montage just didn’t do it for me. Lots of the clips are of players that aren’t even looking at you, or of some guests that don’t seem to be anything other than easy kills. The opening of the video went on for far too long for me, and it wasn’t until around 1:15 that we actually saw any gameplay. Lots of the clips seemed to drag on for an extra 3 seconds or so after the action had already finished, which made the montage drag for me. Also the transitions where you panned around yourself, or displayed a zoomed out image of the map that the next clip was on, only hurt the experience for me by making the montage drag even further. Perhaps if those segments were sped up a lot more, and there were far less of those transitions, then they could serve as smoother more effective transitions.
As for the music, I generally don’t like any montage that has music with actual lyrics in them. Lyrics in songs almost never aid the scenes of a Halo montage, and generally attempt to create a completely different mood than what you’re visually seeing. I would say just use the instrumental versions of the songs that you’re looking to include into your montage. When montages do this, I feel like the music often compliments the clips a lot more, rather than feeling like I’m just being forced to listen to a random song that the montage creator enjoys.
The double Ninja on dispatch was nice, but aside from that the other clips were same old, same old for me. Unique clips like strange jump routes, rocket/ rail hard light shield deflection kills, sticking teammates with a sticky det in infinity gametypes, and using them as a bomb, etc.; Things like that would make me want to see more, where as overkill no scopes on players wandering around without a care in the world has, been done to death unfortunately.
So that’s what I think of your montage. Keep trying to improve, and try not to take offense when someone on a message board gives you their opinion on your video, right after you ask for their opinion on said video. I look forward to Negative opinions more so than positive ones, since I can do something constructive with that feedback, where as positive feedback is often just fluff. So, absorb the criticism you get, and try to improve on your next video.
