Earlier Today, I played a few games just to get my challenges done, and every time I played a game that had teams (be it Super Slayer, SWAT, or Multi-Team), one or more of my teammates left the game.
And no, I’m not exaggerating. Literally every game. Now, this happens quite often, and I really wish there was a way to stop this. Not to mention it’s even worse in Grifball.
Also, each game of Living Dead I played made me a Zombie in all 3 rounds with the exception on one round. That’s just no fun.
Bottom line is that I’m kind of getting sick of playing on teams that lose players, or just have players that don’t play. This does need to be addressed in Halo 4, and it needs to be addressed seriously, because it actually does affect the experience or other people when these things happen.
Now, the zombie thing might just be bad luck, but come on, losing a player in every team game I played? Seems a little ridiculous. There should be a bigger penalty for leaving games.
I had some of those and was one of those.
Connections issues, game code issues, or both ARE kick players out upon setup of the game.
It also happens upon re-setup DURING the game.
Really -Yoinking!- sux.
Heavier punishment isn’t going to deter players from quitting. it is just going to drive them to other games.
Reach must Mexican connections are godlike as it’s more often then not Mexican host and they’re always some of the first to quit which is annoying because of blackscreens.
People that quit often and have terrible connections shouldn’t get host period but they do all the time in Reach.
You find the same person for another match and once again they quit but continue to pull host regardless. An f’ed system if ever there was one.
I’ve been disconnected from the host many times when they quit and teammates and enemies I’ve texted have said the same so I think the quit ban is idiodic as there’s no quality of service and if you run into host booters in area they can just boot you game after game and it counts as a quit which may cause you to rank down and/or be put on probation.
People also exploit the system by searching in large groups and spawntrapping randoms which shouldn’t be encouraged. It’s most annoying when a group gets split and their split friends are calling out your location and holding or wasting power weapons and you’re forced to stay in and have a terrible time or put up with harassment from the probation system.
I’m not pre-ordering Halo 4 if it has the same system as it is a joke being forced to play in social playlists on redbar hosts where you can suicide just by jumping all the while putting up with AFCing and betraying/griefing teammates without any option to boot ever appearing because the host is so poor.
Black screens are only half the problem. I’ll get guys that can’t load maps before the game and guess who’s team they’re always on? I really wish they could bring in dedicated servers.

Well luckily Halo 4 is implementing joining games in progress so that one person quitting could be replaced shortly.
It can be pretty annoying, but all you can do is keep playing and forget about it. I was playing Grifball, 2 of my teammates left, the other team was up to full strenth; My teammate and I totally pwnd them. I did most of the work, but I couldn’t have done it alone. I’m not even that great of a Halo fighter, and the other team was pretty tough.
It’s the quality, not the quantity, of your teammates that make the difference. If they quit, they’re probably not worth fighting with anyway.
The odds are usually in favor of the smaller team in Swat, but not always.
As for Grifball, hold your own when a teammate or two quits and you might just leave a positive impression on the opposing team. It’s not fun for them when they are trying to spawn kill you, but you’re successfully holding your own.
I’ve been added to other games with stronger players because I never gave up. By all means, vent. Never give up.
