Counter to Forge Infantry?

With the patch, it seems like the Forges I play are now just infantry rushing.
Here’s what I’ve tried and to no avail, have failed:
Method 1

  • Supply Pad - Upgrade - Generator - Upgrade - Supply Pad - Generator - Upgrade - Supply Pad - Upgrade Tech 2 - Two BarracksBy this point, the enemy already has a sizable army knocking at my door and puts me to bed.

Method 2

  • Supply Pad - Upgrade - Generator - Upgrade - Supply Pad - Supply Pad - Mini-Base - Main-Base Barracks - Mini-Base BarracksThis works a little bit better as I am able to squeeze out a decent amount of troops. But by the time they reach me, they have grenade throw, where I do not, and a crap ton of snipers. Game.

Method 3

  • Supply Pad - Upgrade - Generator - Upgrade - Supply Pad - Supply Pad - Mini-Base - Main-Base Barracks - Mini-Base Generator - Upgrade - Talent - Cloaked Bombs - TurretThis was able to withstand the initial barrage of infantry, thanks to the turret and cloaked bombs. After this, I was able to get tech 2, grenade throw, as well as a second base with one upgrade(not sure what it’s called). After scouting, I knew they were continuing to go infantry again. So I continued making marines/snipers. The second exchange was even. The third is where I could not keep up. He made max marines/snipers as well as artillery. From this, I could not get the cyclops in close enough to the artillery as they were being picked off by the snipers and I could not get to the snipers as they were cloaked in the way back burgers. Eventually, he knocked down building by building until I was left with one base and no hope.

For all I know, this could be the completely wrong way to counter him so I am all ears for criticism.

So my question is, how can I counter this insane production b/c I refuse to play Forge?

Thanks

I think you’re main drawback is that you are going supply pad first, which slows your progress on upgrading other buildingd and to T2.
My main build is :
Split up starting group to gather all starting supplies
Generator-upgrade
Supply pad -upgrade ×2
Generator -upgrade
Supply pad
T2
Build watchtower(back side of base) and 3 turrets while T2 is training.
Once T2 arrives it really depends who I’m playing to determine what I build next. Once your second generator is building you have enough extra supplies to squeeze out a handful of infantry as well to take out power nodes for an even faster t2

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I feel as though you are way past the ~4-5 mintue mark which would leave you helpless against a quickly growing army.

Yeah I have been having a real problem countering current Cutter Inf Rushes, I find that one ODSTs drop onto the field they destroy any early game army I have, and any counters I can build are killed by snipers early on.

5 minutes to reach which point? I’ll time it when I get home.

Here is what I been using to answer forge infantry:

  1. Go forge infantry yourself and outplay.

  2. Make Jackrabbits and micro them well. Don’t clump them all together or otherwise marine grenade toss will wreak you because of the splash damage. If he invest heavily into infantry spamming at the start, you can end the game usually before he rolls out tech 2 for cyclops. He is most likely mixing in snipers with those marines and the more snipers he makes, the more he delays his tech 2. This can be easily countered though by him simply scouting at the start,

  3. Cutter infantry with Raid 1 and 2 but still get out produced due to rolling economy. You can win this scenario sometimes as cutter. You will need to land your ODST drop on his units for the stun and go for the Archer Missiles while they’re stun and hopefully kill over half his army and go for there. This is what Solid HW and Nakamura does.

  4. I can maybe see a atriox heavily turtling to get that one good engagement on a good forge player and win from that late game. But the absolute vast majority of the time in high level games, you won’t get there. So when trying to counter forge infantry I would highly suggest not to go as banished.
