Here is my ultimatum. If 343 releases this big update within the time frame they promised, I will be over the moon and forgive them for this whole debacle. If, however, the end of this countdown is reached (when March has arrived on the West Coast) without the update having been pushed out, I am returning my copy of MCC I’ve held out with for so long and making Halo, my favorite sci-fi franchise ever, a footnote in my fandom. At this point, it’s a matter of principal.
Of course they will let us down.
I don’t even know how people have hope for 343, or the future of halo. Some Big changes have to be made in 343 and MS in order to bring halo back to a level on par with its former glory. #1 on that list is fixing MCC and not ditching it for halo 5.

There are so many fails in this sentance i cant even grasp, first off its assuming the patch does jack -Yoink-, secondly why doe you want them to push the update without it bieng fully tested, them pushing an update that is bound to fail if pushed, but i will say this id rather if they cant deliver it by feb 28 then they NEED to come on and tell us SPECIFICALLY WHY

I’m sorry you’re having a tough time grasping things. You’re absolutely right - I am assuming in this post that the patch actually works. Thank you for explicitly stating it for those who may have a tough time grasping it.
While we’re on the topic of assumptions, yours is incorrect. Why would anyone want it to be released unfinished? That is a foolish assumption to make. If you had read my post with a less critical attitude and didn’t assume that I’m an idiot, you’d see that the goal isn’t that they’d rush it out – to goal is to draw a line in the sand, knowing when to say “enough is enough”. For me, failing to get this done when they promised would be the last straw. The fact that the patch would have to work is such an obvious given that it wasn’t even worth mentioning.

If you can wait until after the patch is released and then check out the forums to see if they actually fix stuff, I would do so. If you’d rather not wait, Titanfall’s probably your best bet. It’s pretty fun.

That is a good plan. If Halo really is your thing try to wait until after the patch and check the results/forums as suggested.

I see no reason why it couldn’t be released on a Friday or even a Saturday, considering their 455es are on the line. They’ve worked crazy hours, along with some holidays, throughout these 3+ months, so it wouldn’t be a stretch for them.

I understand the “its out of principle” part. But dont cut off your nose to spite your face. One game return (assuming you can actually get one) is not going to make a -Yoink!- bit of difference to Microsoft/343, but it will have a bad effect on the potential amount of Halo fun you can have on the One when they get it fixed.
it’ll be better to wait and try it out once the update lands.

As much as I hate to say it, you’ve got a point. Realistically, I’m going to wait for the patch, even if it’s late. I’ll only return it and make 343 my mortal enemy if the patch doesn’t work. That being said, if they do miss the cutoff date, even if it ends up working, I will make a point to withhold every bit of fanboy support I would have given (and have given for 13 years) otherwise. No more buying the books, just torrents. No more pre-orders, ever. No blowing money on special editions or merch. You can only get screwed so much until you just cut your losses and move on.
