Countdown weighting needs to be reduced
I’m not going to knock Halo Reach, and I’m certainly not going to knock the map Countdown either. I’ve learned over the past year to just kind of suck it up and play the map how it’s supposed to be played. Let’s be honest, it’s a nade/sword/shotty dominated map that allows people to camp around corners and use armor lock to it’s fullest intended purpose. Some love it, some hate it. Whatever the case may be, it’s a map that comes up a lot. Probably too much, and that brings me to my point:
I play on Countdown way too much.
It’s rediculous, honestly. There are new maps in circulation, such as the pit, and a whole slew of other maps that would be perfect for a whole range of playlists. And yet, I am still ending up on Countdown way too much. I understand and I’ve come to terms that it’s a majority vote, that’s fine. But Countdown, Reflection, and Zealot are so predominant in playlists such as Rumblepit, that that is all players end up having to chose from.
I play on cliffside, that’s fine. I play on Reflection…and although I typically lose all the time on the Ivory tower remake, I’m ok with that. I wish I played on Zealot more, I loved the original Zealot incarnation where it was ok to go in space…but I’m also ok with the current “arena” version.
But out of all those maps, I play on countdown three out of five matches in a row, and it’s the same thing:
Grab the sword, grab the shotty, chuck a ton of nades, control around the top of balcony and the lifts and try to keep people from camping in the drop downs. It’s quite monotonous.
Countdown is a CQB map, it forces you into controlling areas of the map with the shotty and sword, which is fine. In the TU Beta, the pistol is king there (which is AWESOME, but come on, I think it’s time that we get some new stuff in rotation, and that Countdown gets weighted a little less in the hoppers.
And while I have your attention, I personally love RumblePit, but I’m tired of guests and people partnering up to control the match and force a minority of players into a situation that no longer promotes a FFA.
Some of you will say, “hey, guests should be allowed to play” which I agree. I honestly do, but in a FFA, it defeats the purpose because PEOPLE can’t be bound to follow the rules if they are not being enforced.
I propose a ranked FFA playlist where the maximum party is 1
That’s my rant I guess. Post your opinions I guess.
