Wait! I know what you’re thinking! “NightClerk, you noob! Only scrubs play FF! Targetmaster is for grinding sweats!” And I don’t entirely disagree with you, but hear me out!
The Targetmaster skins reward players who grind the game. If you are grinding for the skins at this stage of H5’s lifecycle, you are probably a true Halo fan. The upsides of adding FF wins to Targetmaster are:
Makes skins more attainable for less sweaty and casual players - Incentivizes players more to work together in FF - Encourages more REQ pack salesI also do not see it lessening the prestige of the skins because the average FF game is probably around 15 minutes (significantly longer than the average Arena game). This means people that grind WZFF for wins are going to have to dedicate quite a bit more time to the game.
Reward the sweats and the casuals. I don’t see much of a downside to this, and more upside than downside. Let me know what you think.
I think the current system is fine. Competitive multiplayer is a different beast than cooperative; I think the point of these skins is to promote competitive multiplayer. “Targetmaster” after all sounds like a title rewarding those who are on target, which is really only impressive against other players. I know that the commendation is not accuracy-based, but I can see why they keep it in the PvP field.

So we’re not competitive enough? TargetMaster to me sounds exactly what you do in FF which is shoot targets. Dunno why you think competitive multiplayers are the only ones who deserve to unlock them.
Give us a separate set to unlock then. Your reasoning is wrong in my opinion.

Amen. Doesn’t Commander Boring (Palmer) say, “targets inbound” or something like that? Also, I like how the monitors haven’t played a non-custom game for years then come in here and shoot down any suggestions.

Because god forbid someone doesn’t like your idea. You asked what people think. Are people who disagree not allowed to reply?

I got Champ 4 in slayer two seasons ago, was a Champion the season after that, and play Arena daily. I don’t agree with your suggestion. Among the plenty of other seasons I’ve made Champ.

Congrats, glad to see some play. Any reason you don’t agree?
Why does it have to be turned into a sweat and casual thing? You might’ve had a point except you can also get the skins in all the social playlists and you can also be a complete casual and still win games.
I’d like it in Firefight as well, but I’m guessing they thought it would be too easy to get wins if they did that. I don’t know the overall stats for everyone, but mine would probably be in the low 90’s for a win percentage since it’s not that hard to win if you play Heroic.

Yeah Heroic FF wins are generally pretty easy. I think the game length balances that out a bit. If they were like 5 minutes yeah that would be a bit ridiculous.

Yes. The reason I didn’t elaborate further was because you dismissed Chimera on the basis of him being a Monitor. Intellectually lazy dismissals like that don’t warrant intellectually fulfilling replies. But with that behind us, I’ll tell you why I think Targetmaster should exclude FF.
I am also an avid PvE/FF player in Halo, so keep that in mind.
Targetmaster gives us an achievement-based unlock that makes a statement. It says you have won a good deal of games vs. other people. Making these available to all modes would turn that into a “you’ve just played a lot” reward. And while winning arena games is very similar to that, beating other players is much different and takes more raw skill than winning a game of FF. I’m not saying FF doesn’t take skill or knowledge, it certainly does.
In an ideal scenario, Firefight players would be given their own set of skins to grind for that Arena players are excluded from. This gives everyone their own set of rewards and, just as importantly, gives people who play the entire game even more rewards for doing so.
That is why I believe Targetmaster should be limited to PVP. I also like that it’s flat out wins that contribute. It’s unlike Achilles in that there is no dragging out of games to farm kills in a particular manner, it encourages the opposite actually.

Thanks. True, it’s good to see an achievement-based unlock. Maybe 343 counting Social Arena wins is a happy medium, since Super Fiesta is more or less luck of the draw but arguably more “skill-based” than Heroic FF.

That’s a good point. There are definitely playlists in Arena that don’t take as much skill as Heroic FF. But all the same, they are beating other people.

No, having wins from FF to “earn” the Target Master skins isn’t a good idea. I have to admit if it was in firefight I would just grind that since I have a 98% win percentage or something like that in FF. It’s to easy to win FF matches so everyone would do that and get them to quick. I’m glad the way it is it forces you to actually try to win against other players. And it isn’t just for sweats, that’s why they put it in social. If it was really for sweats it would be arena only. Or even for the true sweats TEAM ARENA ONLY!

Just go que into Arena nerd and stop getting offended.
