Could you make it into the SIV program?

Well, if they need a Spartan who can sneak around, shoot straight, drift a Warthog, seduce a baddie, speak nine languages, and who isn’t afraid of a little fire, then I’m their girl.

However, they can go to hell if they expect me to run or even jog. I would rather be Flood biomass than succumb to pressure and be forced to run. Also, I require a Mark V or Air Assault helmet. I have to be stylish in the rigors of combat or I’ll insist that my butt remain planted on the couch back at base.

I’m not a Navy SEAL or Army Ranger, so no.

Yes. Yes Indeed.

Only through ONI noticing my “fluky” skill. Chief has luck, I have fluke.

“I say this because Spartan Naiya Ray is only 7ft”, how is 7ft not impressive!? That is the height of the tallest NBA players. According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control), the average human male height is 5 ft 9 inches so that means Spartans are over 1 foot taller than “normal” humans. I myself am 5 foot 11 inches :stuck_out_tongue:

pretty sure most humans in halo are around 6ft, but the spartans are still pretty tall. altho dont they grow when theyre augmented?

yeah natural height doesn’t matter as the augments well…augment you

I wouldn’t even be able to make it into Marinejegerkommandoen (Norwegian special forces). I think the answer is obvious.

I thought that the augmentations were done in the later stages of adolescence, because the bone structure would be messed up if the bones continued to grow after formation. I’m pretty sure this is the Reach book although I’m not sure.

So, I think that the Spartans were naturally really tall people. I mean their Genes were analyzed to find the tallest and strongest (or what would become the tallest and strongest) humans.

John was 14 when the spartan II’s were augmented. The subjects were selected by a gene-candidate pool, and must fit into a certain age restriction protocol. They must also have possessed superior physical and mental attributes. Which means you are correct.

With better nutrition expect the average human height to increase. Just look at japan, pre ww, they where a lot shorter since their diet was basic, but after globalization the average height is much higher.

OT - God no, I’d more likely be head of fashion for the UNSC. Someones gotta design them suits.

Unless you’re fit enough to make it into one of today’s special forces, you don’t have a chance.

no and neither could anybody else who isn’t a top rated soldier.
I hate that the Spartan 4 program kind of trivializes who can become a Spartan.

I could maybe be a marine and then one day become an ODST, but I don’t have the genetic potential to become a Spartan 2.
As for a Spartan 4, if I lived through years of combat as an ODST, and was given promotions, I would put forward to become a Spartan. I’d be short (5’11) for a Spartan, but I’d sure as heck be better at CQC than Thorne based on his display against Gek, so at least I have that going for me.

Still I’d demand they put the spartan 2 reflex enhancement in me, because having 300%+ enhanced reflexes is something that would be like, my dream super power.

Completely agree.

To respond to the OP’s question, yes, I do believe I would be able to at least be an S-IV candidate based on my athleticism. Height-wise maybe 5’-9" to 5’-10".

I think they recruited marines into the SIV program, not just ODST’s. I think they were recruiting soldiers who showed elite skills and specific traits.

There’s no specifics regarding where in the military they were recruited from. It only says that they are volunteers. I don’t think all of them went from being an ODST to a spartan IV. Some were probably further down the chain, but proved capable enough to be accepted into the program, like you said. It probably didn’t hurt if they were ODST’s at the time of application though.

They recruited soldiers from every branch. Thorne was from the UNSC army, Madsen was a regular marine (not an ODST ). I don’t know if they recruited from the Air Force though. I imagine they would since there is the Aviator armor.

In that case I would asume that they recruited everyone who proved capable no mather what branch they were in.

That’s correct. Anyone with proven combat credentials could qualify to be a Spartan-IV. Madsen however is a special case because his family has power in the UNSC and they made him qualify for the procedures even though his combat experience isn’t up-to-par.
