In the past forerunner AIs have been very untrustworthy towards the UNSC many due to humanity ignoring their programmed protocol. 032 Medicant bias in the halo 3 terminals seems to be guiding chief if he plays a roll in halo 5 guardians, can we trust him he has had a history of turning on his masters siding with the flood Medicant bias questions his own programmed protocols who knows what the gravemind did to him he could be a flood trap we see what the monitors go through what do you think.
“That path ahead is fraught with peril. But I will do all I can to keep it stable — keep you safe […]I’m not so foolish to believe that this will absolve me of my sins. But I would have my makers know that I have changed. And you will be my example.”
I’d trust him. Reluctantly, sure, but I’d trust him all the same.
I would trust him. Despite all he has done, he has achieved some level of atonement. If he is trustworthy, John has gained a powerful ally. If not, well, the Flood were coming anyway. Don’t think having a Forerunner ancilla to help them would make much difference in their tidal wave force.
Perhaps Chief could trust him since he doesn’t know the entire story towards Mendicant’s betrayal. But as a player, well I wouldn’t. The reason he is full of atonement is because he was broken down and programmed that way. Whereas other AI’s changed their personalities through some sort of sapient thought Mendicant Bias was manipulated by the Gravemind. Then, when he was defeated he was so consumed by hatred he had to be ripped apart and reprogrammed to find out what he did was wrong.
An AI so easily changed seems like a dangerous threat. Although I suppose that could become a story arc if those hypotheses of him coming into the game come true. Hey maybe he’ll get manipulated again and we’ll have to kill him. Would probably be a cooler boss battle than 343.
Do we have much of a choice?
After all of the bad experiences Chief has had with 343 Guilty Spark, I think Chief is going to have a difficult time trusting him, perhaps only doing so cautiously and reluctantly. Perhaps a plot arc of Halo 5 will involve Chief learning the truth about Medicant Bias, in doing so severing his trust of him.
A plot twist could involve him turning out to refrain from allying with the Gravemind for a second time. Maybe later, he’ll atone for his crimes by sacrificing himself to save somebody like the Chief. This could serve to remind Chief of how Cortana died to save him and of the cost of lives.
Hmmm, that’s a hard one to answer at least for me. For example, if 343 Guilty Sparks did all “that” just to back-stab the Chief and Arbiter then probably other Forerunner AIs would be programmed the same way. 343 Guilty Sparks performed all those tasks as seen in Halo 1-3 for a reason. 343 Guilty Sparks didn’t care about the Chief, Arbiter, or Cortana. All it was programmed to do was to have the Chief lead the AI to right direction(To exterminate the Flood and them). That AI can bite, and if so then others may do the same. Therefor I wouldn’t trust another one.
P.S: Please forgive me if I am wrong on my facts as I believe I may be. If so then please correct me. Thanks!
