Could we be going after Halsey??

Maybe chief is ordered to go after Halsey and he refuses, instead he goes to try and save her.

I dont have much of a theory here but its something i was thinking about since they brought her back for spartan ops why not make her a bigger role in Halo 5. Also we need more SII Spartans back in this universe there are still some alive.

My working theory is that John wants to go after Halsey to recover her, is denied by the higher powers, and goes off anyway. The ONI Spartan is sent to recover John / Janus Key / Halsey. Halsey may still be subject to a kill order, or it may have been put on hold pending the outcomes of the Janus Key (as per Thorne’s testimony).
Exactly how John chases down Halsey will be interesting, but I can see John going to see is comrade in arms, the Arbiter (where better to get intel on Jul M’dama?). He may even go via some of the outer colonies (as per the Kilo-5 trilogy, there are NCA types who trade with ex-covenant species).
For that matter, Lasky may set him up with Petra (Halo Escalation) to assist.
And my last theory is that Halo 5 will play a lot like Halo 2 - alternating missions from two points of view, with a story twist at some point to force the ONI Spartan and John to pursue the same course of action.

Unfortunately, I doubt that Halsey will be a major player in the Halo 5 campaign. Think about all the players who never played Spartan Ops. They won’t know about Halsey being taken by the Covenant Remnant, they won’t know about the Janus Key, they won’t know about anything…

It would be a terrible idea to base the whole story of Halo 5 around events that the majority of players will not be aware of.

Halo Follower has a new video up talking about a “new theory” about Halsey being a protagonist. He (Chris, he makes good videos) cited the source of the theory, which I thought was odd, because after seeing the end of Spartan Ops, I can’t imagine how anyone could think otherwise.
She hasn’t been in any of the comics that will be leading up to Halo 5, so she’s got to be in there–significantly–for the story to work. As for all of those players who didn’t play Spartan Ops, they’re obviously not that interested in the story. Even if you don’t have a Gold account, you can watch all of the episodes online just about anywhere.

I think we will definitely be seeing Halsey again…no choice…she has to be addressed…dead or alive…ONI must have closure. Osman’s problem now. Maybe a Kilo-5 spin-off someday…like H3:ODST. On a side note, I 'm not convinced that she’s a traitor…not just yet. She might just be playing her captors and using her position inside…I mean her other choice is torture and death. Perhaps John will save or help her continue to rescue humanity. I Don’t know. Her loyalty has been to humanity over the UNSC, so no love lost there. BUT we will see her again.

I see no conflict in Halsey pursuing revenge against ONI, and remaining loyal to humanity . . . and I wouldn’t put it past her to be using Jul as a tool to achieve Halsey’s ends.
Given Halsey’s knowledge base, if she were seriously anti-human, she could boost Jul’s teams equipment / capacity significantly. I can only assume Jul doesn’t know how much Halsey knows, or Halsey has Jul convinced that without the right hardware, her hand are tied (and just realised how inappropriate that particular phrase is).

If Halsey does form a sort of antagonist role, which doesn’t necessarily mean villain by the way, then they better treat her and her role with respect. Halsey and John have a long, complex history. No doubt she is still a mother figure to him and she still cares about him, as she does with all of her Spartans. Both stand for humanity, but their goals may not necessarily mesh as well as they once did when things were as simple as, “Kill anything NOT human”. No simple black and white morality wishywashy nonsense would do this relationship justice.

Anybody who sends John out to being Halsey in would have to be an absolute idiot.

**I believe your right but let say that Master Chief found out what happen to Halsey and wasn’t happy what they done to her and she’s been taken away by the Covenant. He went rogue on the UNSC for also disobeying direct orders from the Previous Captain of Infinity. and the unknown Spartan might be the Gabriel Thorne that was deranked for interfering Commander Palmer’s objective from executing Dr. Halsey and now was given the mark of shame and works for Naval Intelligence. The Dark Side of the UNSC. ****

The new Spartan is a new character, not Thorne. Nor has Thorne been deranked, he leads Fireteam Majestic now.

Given the fact that if he wants to bring back Cortana he’s probably gonna need Halsey alive, Jon is going to do all he can to keep her safe.

That’s before we get into the relationship between them.

Is the kill order likely to be lifted any time soon??..not likely, unless Halsey finds a way to become ‘too valuable’ again after she hands over the Janus key.

If we see john’s mission brief, I don’t see the problem.

Barely explained time skips have happened all the time in halo, being able to concisely provide the player with what they need to know about the gap was managed by h2 and h3 fine enough not to confuse people.

I’d say halsey’s more likely than blue team.

h4’s problem was that it incorporated unfamiliar or contradictory elements without even the slightest explanation.

Take everything he says with a large grain of salt, it often poor speculation and early fact based.
