Could we add the M850 Grizzly tank to the game somehow?

While I can’t currently think of a scenario where the dual barrel M850 Grizzly Tank would be needed instead of an M808 Scorpion, but it would certainly be nice to see the bigger older tank in an FPS game where it could be operated by the player. Perhaps it could be incorporated into campaign DLC later on during a massive vehicular battle, akin to Reach’s Tip of the Spear, Halo 3’s The Ark/The Covenant, Combat Evolved’s Assault on the Control Room, Halo 4’s Infinity, or ODST’s Kizingo Boulevard. It could also potentially be implemented as a map exclusive multiplayer vehicle.

There was an old fps called Command & Conquer: Renegade that sort of worked like Warzone except with a C&C skin and more developed bases (but no PvE). In that there were all sorts of light and heavy vehicles that would be thrown at eachother and repeatedly summoned via airdrop at the base etc.

If something like this were brought in to Halo Infinite that would be wild and a great counter to the relative lack of vehicles in BTB currently. It would require a tonne of work though, probably something that forgers could work on when Forge actually releases. If such a mode were to be built, the Grizzly would be perfect for it (Renegade also has a similar vehicle called the Mammoth Tank).

Incidently there is a fanmade modern remake of this game called Renegade X incase anyone wants to try it out.

That reminds me of the Halo Wars mode “reinforcements” where every x amount of time you get units and depending on how far in the game and how high or low your unit cap was depends on what units you get.

thanks for the info I’ll go check it out

How do think this would perform compared to a scorpion in halo infinite? Would there need to be a more powerful and large enemy in the game to make it feasible?

Well, yes. In the lore, the Grizzly is described as being an absolute monster, to the point that the Covenant was forced to deploy orbital bombardment tactics to destroy one. Naturally, the sheer power of the vehicle made it a very big problem, logistic, resource and mobility wise. It was massive in size, it was made of even tougher materials than the Scorpion (making it more expensive), manages to be somehow faster, and it still has all that brutal firepower.
This is one of those vehicles that would realistically be relegated to a linear section where you lay waste to the defenses set up by our enemies. Could Infinite make it balanced? Well… the vehicle is already pretty busted, but if Infinite were to add it, it’d either be so broken that it’ be removed from matchmaking or so weak as a result of what I call “overbalancing” (see the Banshee and Sniper Rifle for example) that it’s an insult to the legacy it’s supposed to carry. I can hardly see any sort of middle-ground with this behemoth.

Yeah it’d either need to be nerfed a lot OR they could add enemies that would require a monster like the grizzly to defeat.

It’d be great in multiplayer if they built a mode specifically around it. Maybe something like the following:

  • Asymmetric 12v12 btb, having one team spawn as offense and one as defence, then switch X times depending on how long these matches would take
  • A single grizzly spawns on the offensive team side. It has a health bar like pve bosses do.
  • Objective is to pass through a series of checkpoints, kind of like invasion where they are sequential and capturing one unlocks the next
  • At each checkpoint captured, the grizzly heals a bit
  • Attackers win if they take all checkpoints. Defenders win if they destroy the grizzly.

Would probably have to make the grizzly immune to hijacks & resistant to emp for this to work, as well as able to take a ludicrous amount of punishment, but it would be fun

More breathable maps first please. Every map but Highpower is suffocating.

Yeah that’s probably for the best.
