The Energy Sword is one of the biggest weapons in the Halo Universe. It’s awesome for close quarters and very effective, with many having died at the blades of Sangheili. I’m wondering, is the UNSC developing their own energy blade weapon? This variant of the Assault Rifle here has a (metallic) bayonet that has some energy charging going on. I wouldn’t be shocked if UNSC is trying to develop a weapon like the Energy Sword. While soldiers like close range weapons like the Shotgun and others, I’m sure they’d like a blade weapon that’s quite powerful. Thoughts?

Energy combat knife might fit to the UNSC arsenal but I can’t see them using swords.

Good point, I haven’t used that variant in a while.

People like Fred I’m sure would love to have energy knives. I wouldn’t be shocked if some soldiers would want their own plasma sword.

I would think that’s the case.

Some soldiers would, but it doesn’t really fit the rigid military structure of the UNSC. Also, a normal human would stand no chance against a Sangheilli in a duel, their only chance is to take the Elite down before he can get in range. Any gun would be better for this task. It seems quite pointless really.
The energy sword is also a more ceremonial weapon than one designed for combat, although some Elites do choose to use it for both purposes.

I wouldn’t be shocked if they made their own sword, it’d probably only be for top troops like ODSTs and Spartans. Truly trained troops, like the Zealots and Kaidons.

Probably reverse-engineering, as only the Forerunners knew how to make light physical.

ODST’s probably would just use the bayonet.
Spartans could definitely use them in small numbers, like HeadHunters and Delta-6 operator’s.

Fred would probably love having plasma knives, kinda like the energy dagger.
I would love to see some Spartans go to town with these new blades.
Im pretty sure,the UNSC has started working on prototypes for plasma weapons during the war,but after their joint venture with the Sangheili,the technology took huge steps forward.
i just dont see the point of humanity using resources to make their own energy blades when they can focus on new longer range weaponry.
it might fit the elites since its part of their culture but running around with a blade wouldnt seem to fit a human in Halo universe.
though it could be some second class project to create more effective close range weapons for those too close for comfort situations.
