Could they show something at the VGAs?

We’ve entered another content drought, and it looks like there’s no end in sight. There’s 1 last possible bastion of news and/or content for Infinite, the Video Game Awards (VGAs). They could show off some new gameplay and give us some news, at least that’s what I’m hoping for. Dude, I’m holding out on the slim hope that we see something at the VGAs, but given 343’s awful communication (or lack of communication) and abysmal marketing, I doubt it’ll be there.

I’m doubtful infinite will be there, but would love to be wrong on this one. MS/343 have been only trying to put the genie back in the bottle ever since the July showcase.

Seeing as the original plan for this game would’ve meant that it would be out right NOW, I’d say we are firmly in uncharted territory–and I mean that literally; there was no plan to be marketing or showing the game past the original release date.

Given the size of this intellectual property, I can only imagine how insane the bureaucratic gauntlet to get any public materials approved must be. We’re likely stuck with reading the tea leaves of energy drink promotions, toys, and lunchbox literature to guess what this game will include.

After what happened at the E3 replacement event…I’m not confident that they have something to show yet. Plus I think they’ll want to avoid criticism just before the holidays since they wouldn’t be able to do much about it. Doubt we’ll see anything till next year.

They’ve been working on it for five years, they must have something to show for it shrug

I remember Halo 2 having a similar media blackout when it was delayed from its original 2003 release date to 2004, with the delay being confirmed after a demo showing, a successful showing that wound up being somewhat inaccurate to what the game actually looked and played like. It’s really starting to feel like the classic Halo pre-release shenanigans.

It could be there but I doubt it. It would be nice if they would just tell us when we can expect some news, even a rough window. Surely they have a new marketing plan in place so they can tell us hardcore fans when to expect something? I dunno, maybe the fact we haven’t heard/seen anything big is because they don’t have a new plan in place and we’re just gonna get stuff when we’re really close to launch. I’ve heard that making demos and what not for marketing actually takes a lot of time and effort out of development, maybe it’s better they just keep their heads down and bang this game out instead of focusing on a huge marketing plan. Just show us when it’s legit good to go.
