Could there ever be a Ghosts of Onyx game?

I was wondering if there could ever be a Onyx game as it would be to short with not a lot of ground fighting. There could be a ship vs ship combat style game where the player takes control of various UNSC ships fighting the covenant

My body is ready for an Onyx game

That Book does more story telling than any real fighting, it is spec ops fighting with no real engagements, if they were going to do anything with it, it’ll most likely be a short episodic series or animation. However, i doubt even that will happen, but it is a very good book and would love to see it brought to life in some way.

Maybe my memory is screwing with me, but I don’t recall there being much naval warfare in Ghosts of Onyx. Aside from Covenant ships trying to get into Onyx and getting shredded by Onyx Sentinels, I really don’t remember any ship-to-ship engagements.

I think you are right, I remember more tactical engagements described in that book, so if there was a game it would probably end up feeling more like a Tom Clancy meets Dishonored game than anything (not that it would necessarily be bad) just that it would be much slower paced.

When Blue Team boarded the Bloodied Spirit at the start of the novel, that took place amidst the naval engagement of the UNSC Home Fleet against Truth’s invasion fleet. That’s one opportunity there.

During the Battle of Onyx, Battle Group Omicron engaged the Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity and despite being outnumbered by the Covenant 22 to 9, Omicron amazingly managed to destroy 20 enemy vessels at a cost of 4 of their own. They would have destroyed the rest of the battlegroup if not for the arrival of 32 reinforcements from the Combined Fleet of Righteous Purpose. Fortunately, the reinforcements were completely wiped out when Onyx went nuclear on their -Yoinks!-.
There you go, one of the best written naval engagements of the franchise right there, would make one hell of a gameplay segment if you ask me.

Hm. Fair enough. I just don’t see two opportunities as enough for what the OP is suggesting, because, if I’m interpreting the post correctly, they want an entire game based solely around naval combat. Two battles hardly seem like enough for a game of that type, in my opinion.

Yeah I’m fairly certain OP wasn’t clear with his wording or is simply just confused lol. I’m just gonna assume he meant the game would have a naval portion or he’s talking about an entirely different non-Onyx game that focuses on naval engagements only.

Yeah I see what you guys are saying, I still maintain that a Hitman style ONI game featuring Locke would be pretty BA - Halo sandbox but an open level where you have to take down or capture target with different options available - plus it would give us some background for the character - it can be post Spartan-transformation Locke, but just something about his days as a hunter

I wouldn’t mind seeing a squad-based shooter where you play as an extended Headhunter squad.

That was a Awesome book. I really like James Ackerson.

If there were ever a Halo book that contained enough action to be made into a game, I’d tend to think it’d probably be First Strike. MAN is that thing packed with action from Chapter 1 on forward. There are battles in literally every chapter.
