Could there be friction between Buck and Locke?

In the opening cinematic, Locke and Buck seem to be getting along with each other. There’s also some banter between them, which is nice. However, hunting down Chief and the rest of Blue Team might cause some complications between them. Buck knows they’re not going after another target and Locke simply says “Every target is just another target Buck.” It seems Locke is treating Chief as just another mission rather than who he is. Also, Buck points out nobody will be happy once they find out Osiris is after him and his friends. I get the feeling that Buck will probably not be for hunting down Chief while Locke will see their task as priority one. Maybe this will cause some friction, hell I wonder who Buck is aiming at here. He’s in a Human environment and is talking to someone. Do you think there could be some friction between Buck and Locke?

The most friction I think we will see is Buck and Locke fighting over what they should do to accomplish something. Buck knows what the mission is and how to get it done that’s why he was picked to be apart of Osiris. I don’t think Buck is pointing the gun at someone to shoot because Buck wouldn’t shoot a comrade over a disagreement. Rather I think he might just be checking his sights. Other than small disagreements over what to because both are leaders I don’t see much arguing.

Maybe friction in general between Osiris in general and hell maybe blue team argue as well

Buck knows not to screw with Chief, Locke clearly doesnt. That’s probably the main point of friction.

Locke is probably saying that just to reassure his team…and probably himself.

You want your team level headed and not thinking about, “This target is the Savior of Humanity, killed thousands of covenant, went against The Flood numerous times and survived, faced an army of Prometheans, survived Ur-Didact, survived a nuke point blank (with Cortanas help), and fought the Didact again, stabbed him in the eye…then Composed him. Then to top it off…he’s with a team he has known and worked with since he was a toddler while in the Spartan II Program.”

I doubt that there will be any conflict between the members of Blue Team. They’ve always followed chief’s lead since they trained with Mendez. Maybe this could lead to another contrast between Blue Team and Osiris; Blue Team members being tight knit and Osiris members being on thin ice.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Blue Team had some conflict as well. After all, I believe Fred still outranks John and just defers to his leadership. If Fred ever had to use his rank…damn.

I’m kind of hoping Fred take’s over at some point in the campaign… He has to stop being second fiddle sometime.

Question: Do these ranks still apply since being integrated into the Spartan branch of the UNSC?

Spartans in the Spartan branch rank is “Spartan”.

John is still a Master Chief Petty Officer, so I assume for at least S-II ranks still matter.

There’d have to be grinding for there to be friction. And maybe that’s something we can save for the fanfictions

Fanfictions are all kinds of wrong

I can’t remember what video/interview it was in, but there was a comment by either Josh Holmes or Tim Longo that because Osiris was a newly formed team, there would be disagreements and friction amongst team members as a way of contrast between Blue Team, who has bee operating in the field with each other for decades.

Fanfrictions

I hope to see Buck become leader of Osiris or quit and have his own team with Romeo, if push comes to shove. Then we could have another ODST styled game!

That gives me an idea. Maybe near the end of the campaign or whatever, Chief is gonna do something insane (hence the HtT trailer where he says “was it worth it?”) that leads to the death or endangerment of a lot of people, something to the point where Fred has to step in and order MC to stand down and face arrest or something. I know Fred is also AWOL so he probably can’t literally imprison him but it would still be cool to see Fred exercising his authority- even over MC.

Except they wouldn’t be ODST’s anymore… Still Spartans.

I wouldn’t be suprised if both teams have some friction at some point. Infact my guess is that osiris start off more fractured than blue then they swap. I know chief and blue are tight and everything but I can’t imagine they’ll all just roll with chief telling them they need to do what his dead Ai companion told him. I know they trust him but it’d be irresponsible of them to just do what he says no questions asked.

Blue Team was given the choice to join the Spartan branch or not. They opted to remain with NAVSPECWAR.
