John-117 has been wearing Mjolnir since 2525, but could he wield its mythical namesake? Is he worthy, or is there another Spartan who would be more likely to control that mighty hammer?
While chief is looking out for the good of the universe and could definitely wield it in Halo CE - Halo 3, in 4 and 5? no.
I’d say hes pretty worthy as he has alot of respect for his fellow soliders and fights for the good of humanity.

I would say yes. He has the character and “super soldier-ness” of captain America, who was able to hold the hammer.
No one is more worthy than Master Chief. Not Thor or Odin, or anyone of Asgard, or anywhere else. Chief is an unrelenting hammer of justice brought down upon the heads of murderous scum. Nay, the question is not whether he is worthy of the hammer, but rather, is the hammer worthy of him? 
Yeah i dont see why master chief wouldnt be able to plus as some mentioned he is well respected.
I don’t know honestly, but personally I’m leaning towards no. He doesn’t have the heart I think. If you look at his thoughts after the ODST fight in 2525, he pushed it from mind because it was what he was taught was “right”. Steve Rogers would have been devastated if that were to happen to him. Obviously he’s does alot of growing in the 30+ years since then, but his general “mission first” kinda disqualifies him I’d personally think.
i dont think so because while hes a deeply respected soldier - usually he does what hes told or the most efficient way to take out enemies
as demonstrated with the odsts and halo 5, he doesn’t always do the right thing
I don’t think so either. I mean, he’s basically US Agent: a perfect soldier but not necessarily a good man.

What is the criteria for that? Just being a good soldier, kind and pure hearted or something?
I see some folks saying that Master Chief’s heroism during the original trilogy makes him worthy, but his attitude or disobedience during Halo 4 and Halo 5 make him unworthy, whereas others say that he’s not worthy at all because he is too rigidly obedient and indoctrinated.
Remember that Thanos was evidently worthy to wield Stormbreaker.
I’d say that Master Chief is much more likely to have been worthy during the events of Halo 4 at least. Halo 5 is questionable; I’m just not sure about that period of time.

Stormbreaker doesn’t have the enchantment Odin cast on Mjolnir though, that is why Thanos could pick it up. You will notice in the one-on-one fight with Cap, when Cap takes a swing at him with Mjolnir, Thanos actually grabs his wrist and doesn’t try to disarm him by taking the hammer like he does the axe.
