Could Sprint be fixed by disabling when shot at?

I’ve seen both camps on the sprint dilemma. Those that don’t want sprint typically believe that it hinders the importance of map control and positioning, etc. On the other hand, those that want to keep sprint tend to dislike the “sluggish” nature of the older games and want Halo to evolve into a modern-shooter.

I’m definitely in the first group of people. I don’t think sprint is necessary. Halo IMO is best when the maps are small and well-designed. With the addition of sprint it makes it easy to travel to key positions on the map without strategic movement. This leads to the developers expanding the maps to accommodate this. The maps start to feel more meant for 5v5or 6v6 then they do 4v4 do to how spacious they are.
My proposition is that when you are shot while sprinting it should briefly disable the animation(maybe around half a second to a second)and require a second imput to activate it again. While Halo 5 did take away shield recharge while sprinting, players are still able to weasel their way out of a lot of gunfights(much to my frustration). With this new idea in mind, players will be deterred from sprinting through huge sight-lines Willy-nilly. If they’re shot while in those giant sight lines they’ll be sitting ducks. If players want to reach key parts of the map fast, then it’ll be a risk versus reward indevor. It’ll also prevent those pesky runners from getting away scot-free.

Give your thoughts below. If you find any holes in my plan, point them out. Thanks in advance!
