"Ordinance drops are pretty cool. When you earn one (I don’t know what I did to earn them), you get a little thingy in your UI that pops up - three choices, mapped to three buttons on your D-Pad. Pick your drop, and it’ll appear in the default location for that power weapon soon after. That is: Let’s say we’re talking about Powerhouse. When the game starts, there are no Rockets in the outlet under the station… but as soon as someone earns a drop, and picks Rockets, they’ll pop in there. Everyone gets notified that they’re about to drop - but the dropper obviously knows a little sooner. So you can either get there first, and snag 'em… or get there and set up a trap.
"
Can someone tell me if this is true?
Thanks.

In my opinion, I believe that is very true.
Is there any confirmation you could link me to?
I believe that it was stated that this was a custom game, so it could have had special settings that are different than regular matchmaking settings.
Yes, it’s true. This was a writeup from the owner of halo.bungie.org.
He posted this after he played with other people/NFL parties at an event 343i had in New York recently.
Would that be what the standard gametypes would be like? Or is that a specialized custom game setting like Vintage91 said?
I’m pretty sure that’s just one of the many options for Custom Games.
I believe that was posted by an MLG guy that got invited by Frankie to test a part of the game. It sure is legit, but the info he gave may not be exactly true.
I sure would be disappointed if that’s what the matchmaking will be like.
Between that and the unlock system I’m really disappointed already. Doesn’t seem like innovation to me, seems like taking an aspect of another FPS and changing one detail to make it seem new.
But since it seems that there isn’t really concrete confirmation of this I guess I’ll wait and see. Thanks for the replies!
That was posted by Louis Wu of HBO.
There are different types of weapon (ordinance) drops.
Personal Ordinance you earn in certain gametypes, but how you earn them hasn’t been revealed yet.
Then there is the normal type of ordinance. It drops at beginning of game, and then periodically throughout.

I think Frankie said this was for limited playlists/gametypes. There will be standard ordinance that spawn on timers like they do now, but are dropped in. Then there is personal ordinance which is what had been described by Louis Wu.

So there will most likely be gametypes without this care package system?
