Some people blame Master Chief to get AWOL to save Cortana in Halo 5, but if they didn’t, what would have happen ? Could Osiris have, with Halsey help, be able to stopped Cortana ?
To me, Blue team approached Cortana only because she let them do. She saved them from the Warden Eternal and she would have all power to kill them with the Guardians. Osiris and Exhuberant managed to free blue team from one Guardian only because the Warden Eternal was neutralize and the other Guardians were out of Genisys.
So, what do you think ?
I don’t think they ever had a chance.
They never had a plan for dealing with Cortana and were always in the lurch. Really their focus was dealing with Chief. It would have been a better story if they had been trying to do that instead.
Per Divine Wind it’s extremely difficult to kill an AI. They had to lock this Forerunner AI into an installation, then blast it with an EMP Mac cannon and then destroy anything it came in. Even a single sliver of data is enough for an AI to just carry on. This includes human AI as shown with Leonidas in Bad Blood.
The only reason they were able to kill Cortana in Halo Infinite is because they made another Cortana. Which we are told several times was the only way of dealing with her. Plus, she, for reasons that require an Oscar worthy explanation, decided to leave the safety of the Domain and upload herself entirely into the Silent Auditorium. Basically only an, we’ll just call it “exceptional” set of circumstances which Osiris were in no position to replicate.
Which assumes we aren’t currently locked in a Cylex and stuck in a simulation. Rings within rings.

Well maybe we are currently locked in a cylex and stuck in a simulation, that would explain the bad writting 
. Surely since Halo 3 end I think !

I mean I was just watching Beyond the Aquila Rift from Love Death and Robots.
Where, you know, he gets knocked out, wakes up a little confused, asking questions and then he’s put in this happy world where he’s reunited with his long lost love. What could possibly be wrong with…. 
Cortana did try to put Chief in a cryptum last game so there is precedent.
