Could not find a server that was suitable...

Hello All,

After the most recent Xbox OS update, I have been getting this message “could not find a server that was suitable for all members of your fireteam” when attempting to play Halo 5 Multiplayer. I have also tried the Master Chief Collection and it fails to find a server there as well.

I have hard rebooted the modem, router, and xbox to no avail. I have deleted Halo 5 from the hard drive, re-installed all updates and it does not work. I have verified the NAT is open on my router and I can connect find to other multiplayer games (Gears). I have attempted the 2.4 ghz band and a 5 ghz band - same issue. I have no idea why this is occurring and there doesn’t appear to be any real troubleshooting/solution posted anywhere for this generic message.

My next step is to hardwire directly to the modem, but that will take some time. Are there any real troubleshooting steps I can take to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance.

edit: Should note this is always by myself, in the US just trying to play a match.

No solution for this problem?

The only time ive ever heard anyone experience this problem is when they are on Satellite internet ISPs. Im assuming the problem youre experiencing may be a speed or latency issue that the servers wont allow you to connect to if your system is reporting high latency or too-low of speeds.

Hmm - sadly no, pulling 125mbs down and 5 up. Stl, MO with Charter cable internet. It’s just infuriating to have a generic error message with no way to solve it.

I know it’s unconventional, but wireless isn’t the most stable method. I strongly suggest a quick set up of a hardwired connection to your router.

I’ve had this same issue. Did mainly the same troubleshooting and I am still getting the server message. Any other possible solution other than hardwire?

What I did is I went to halo in games and apps and clicked on manage game and deleted the data for my profile just from the Xbox not the cloud and it fixed it

Tried this - didn’t work :frowning:

So fun experiment, I setup a hot spot on my phone (T-mobile LTE on Iphone 6) and connected the xbox. When I opened Halo 5, voila - it worked perfectly. Even found a match an began playing. The xbox was pulling 5mb down from the LTE hotspot.

Immediately switched back to the router - same issue. I turned off the firewall on the router, same issue. Very annoying.
