Although I’d prefer keeping both gameplay styles, switching at intervals, if there must be one gameplay style, what I’d like is for them get rid of sprint, clamber, and–since no sprint, then by default–Spartan charge, and aiming down the sights; keep, however, thruster packs–but nerfed to have a very long cool-down, as to be saved for a last resort, as well as not being able to regen whilst thrusting–floating whilst aiming–it’d work for both the scopes for guns that have such and the zoom-in for the ones without–ground pound–but nerfed to where it doesn’t have as wide a blast radius, as well as letting it have only as much damage as a normal melee–and finally, speed up the movement to compensate for no sprint. Optionally, I’d prefer going back to Halo CE’s partial health-pack system. I think a lot of the people that Halo lost after 343i’s arrival to the franchise might potentially be gained if they at least went a little closer to the old gameplay through this.
I agree with everything, but I’d also remove ground pound. Faster base movement plus a thruster would be a really cool modernized version of classic gameplay. Sprint and clamber need to go. Bring back quality map design and let the weapons and jumps shine.
I fail to see how any spartan ability adds to the game. I mean the stats speak for themselves ever since Reach. Its had 3 strikes already. Should a flagship title be sitting at the 35 spot a mere 2 years after release? Classic Halo held the top 1 spot for years with no signs of slowing down before radical changes were implemented. The bottom line is that bad ideas were allowed to make their way into Halo and now its a mainstay.
And the argument of a Halo 3 carbon copy. Does no one seem to understand that you can have a full classic halo with graphic, gameplay, vehicle improvements and amazing maps that are fresh to the series all while maintaining the integrity of the classic formula.
You improve and refine what was already insanely popular and what was already working. What you don’t do is say - look we’ve been making round tires for years and instead of designing better tread lets just make square tires! And if people don’t like it we’ll just tweak the treat but keep the square tires. People will catch on eventually.
Thats the madness I know goes on over there.
At least Spartan Charge and Ground Pound need to go IMO.
