“You are the child of my makers. Inheritor of all they left behind. You are Forerunner. But this ring…is mine.”
— 343 Guilty Spark, betraying the Master Chief
Maybe Chief is more than just a Reclaimer. Perhaps he has a geas. Maybe he can remember his ancestors fighting the Forerunner army. Could this be why Chief has a true nemesis this time? Will Chief find a hate for whoever the ancient enemy is?
> He is just a Reclaimer liek every other human. I doubt he has an imprint since last time I checked, Chakas has them all.
That isn’t true since he says
> see very clearly how much the Librarian has shaped humanity
> since the end of the first human-Forerunner war.
> Whenever you look inward and see an ideal female . . . whether
> it be goddess, anima, mother, sister, or lover . . .

Chakas probably holds all of the humans from the ring not all ancient humans.
> I was under the impression those were all the ancient humans who remained. Any not shielded from the Halos would’ve lost those imprints.
Only humans from Erda got Imprints though which is why they weren’t allowed to go near the halo’s while humans from other worlds were. Which i will say they were reseeded also.
> I do believe he has a geas, just not the Didact’s or anyone else’s geas, I think its one the librarian purpose made for him
But there isn’t anyway the librarian could control or see any of that unless forerunners have the tech to see into the future. Which was questioned in GoO.
Deva’s thread has some interesting quotes from 343GS that you should read.
This is all speculation at this point, but I also question the Forerunners technology could see into the future. It would make more sense to give John an imprint from a Forerunner - a Forerunner familiar with the Librarian’s plan and a Forerunner who could carry out that plan through a Reclaimer.

Well the Master Chief having a geas would explain how he and other Spartan-IIs have an instinctive understanding of Covenant and Forerunner technology as shown in the earliest Halo books.

Except that the rest of them are baffled and confused by anything Forerunner. The one exception is the Master Chief, who just knows what to press.
> The Master Chief most certainly does have a geas.

But that can’t just be limited to the spartans if all humans are reclaimers. Yes there has to be something in the genes of the spartan IIs to make them standout but i am sure there are other humans that would feel the same if they were in an identical position.
Unless a Gea can somehow be set to come into play generations later (which Greg Bear will probably write up to make sense) then It doesn’t make sense for random humans to get “feelings” eons later.
Not completely sure if this counts as leaked content or such, but at comicon they showed a clip from aboard the infinity where master chief has been “seeing things” related to someone (I assume the didact) - “I know what I saw, If we allow him to leave this planet humanity will be put at risk” and del rio says he doesn’t want to make any decisions based upon the “hallucinations of an aging spartan” as he says.
Master chief was having “hallucinations” about what I assume is the didact. Something that told him what the didact has done, or will do, something that convinced him that humanity will be at risk if he were to leave. I suppose it could be the orange ball and no one else on the infinity saw/sees it, but it seems more likely it was a memory imprint…at least to me.
This leads up to cortana getting mad and telling del rio she won’t allow him to leave theplanet.
If you pause at 00:01:41, you will see the circle around a portion of the standard MJOLNIR MK V helmet. That I believe is John and that is where his geas is.

Just because Del Rio says they are hallucinations does not mean they are such. Chief and Cortana at that point may have met the Didact in person and learned his intentions, and Del Rio simply does not believe them. His motives to leave the planet are clearly clouding his judgement - he makes degrading comments to the Master Chief and Cortana…who would ever do that? I already dislike Del Rio just based on that leaked clip.
