Could Invasion be a MMOFPS like Planetside 2?

Its Unlikely I know but i wouldn’t mind Invasion being on the Scale of Planetside 2. that would be amazing. This would probably make invasion one of the most popular modes. Also if you think about it this type of thing is what really happened in the Halo universe. tons of Spartans Vs tons of Covenant (i do believe mostly Elites). and with cloud based gaming and dedicated servers they might be able to pull it off.

But I don’t see it as likely. Not even possible.

For one, the Halo sandbox isn’t going to change that much. Games for a while now have been able to support more than 16 players on console, but Halo has stayed the same.

For another, the sheer amount of work required would equal that of a standalone game. To make a map that big that could only be used in one game mode would be ridiculous.

It’s just a huge risk that I don’t think would be worth taking.

I would say that it is possible. PS4 is getting Planetside 2 (lucky -Yoinks!-), so I don’t see why Xbox One couldn’t handle a game of that scope either, especially with the cloud. I just don’t think Halo is the game to do it.

Faction-based combat in which you fight to control regions of the map on a massive scale? Yes, please.

I’d rather just have Invasion reintroduced and more balanced, all while integrating the gametype with Dominion to an extent (allowing automated turrets, deployed barriers, etc). The gametypes are very similar, with Dominion acting as a fleshed-out reincarnation of Invasion Slayer, and could develop more from each other.

I’d certainly like to see the Elites in Invasion (as well as in general) return, but think that they need to be balanced properly to the S-IVs (same size, more upright posture like in Reach, and same stats regarding player movement and shields/health).
