So now that im done with the campaign could someone give me some back story cause I feel like im missing a few things. I’ve only read Cryptum, the first book in the Forerunner saga, and from what I got from that told me that the Didact… tolerated humans and was married to the Librarian. So what happened to make the Didact hate humanity and the Librarian?
Also, how does Cortana know the Didact? He doesnt give any clues as to who he is but some how Cortana knows who he is the first time she sees him.
In the terminals, 343i says that humanity wasn’t attacking the Forerunners to overthrow them or to get more land, it was to stop the spread of the flood. They basically glassed entire planets of Forerunners even if the infection was only in a remote area. I imagine this would slightly piss the Didact off at humans.
The Librarian said that MC’s combat skin and Cortana were the results of seeds that the Librarian planted. It’s possible that Cortana knew who the Didact was because of these seeds.
You may want to check out Halopedia. If I remember correctly, they won’t post anything about the plot of a game until it has been out for a bit, but it may give you some more back story.
My guess for how Cortana knew who the Didact was?
I’m thinking that she had access to the information as soon as MCs suit made contact with the console pillars that activated the big ol’ ball. Considering how fast she can process info.
But thats just my take on it. shrug
I’m also guessing that the Didact never mentioned his hate for humans since there were two humans with the Forerunner (forgot what they called him) that found him in Cryptum. As to avoided unneeded conflict since that Forerunner did seem at least slightly attached to them.
From what i read the Didact wanted the Librarian to return to the main Forerunner defense line (forgot what its called) but the Librarian returned to Earth to save Humanity, which when the Flood attacked the forerunner defense line she was cut off from the Didact, so he now blames Humanity for her death.
