Halo 5 was… not the best game… but now that I think about it, maybe it was planned. Things like the “Cortana scene” in the beginning could explain what Master Cheif was putting in his head at the end.
Maybe there is redemption or maybe I’m just being hopeful.
I’ve heard a lot of people say they think H5 was just meant as build up for H6, which I’m sure is part true because Infinite is a sequel that takes place after H5, but still if it was just a build up game that doesn’t excuse how meh it was. I’m sure a lot of questions will be answered in Infinite but that doesn’t change the fact H5 campaign kinda sucked.

The Created conflict really messed up the narrative and threw out a chilling war against the Forerunners in favor of a cliched AI rebellion. There’s just no getting around how unexciting the story has become now that we’re up against an AI rebellion rather than the commander of the Forerunner military. However, I think 343 could make up for the overwhelming drawbacks of the Created’s existence by telling a more character-driven and emotional story.

No, it’s story problems are it’s own, but maybe some of the WTF things that really had no part in the story were really for the next one. Although they should have stuck to what the game was about but really didn’t show. I also think that Halo 4 was a look into the Master Cheif as a person and the way they went about him going AWOL was really a step in the opposite direction.
Can’t wait to see what is planned for the story

for its campaign indeed least I hope and the multiplayer was fine but obviously classic would be better
I think as long as 343 puts a focus on plot development, the story can still be redeemed. I just hope the multiplayer doesn’t suffer. I like the multiplayer in Halo 5 and with a few minor tweaks, I think Infinite could have the best multiplayer
I don’t think Halo Infinite would redeem Halo 5’s story. If anything, I think it would be trying to salvage Halo’s overall story after Guardians.
There is no redeeming the mess of H5g but what Infinite could do is redeem Halo.
I also think if this bombs and the campaign is like Halo 5s I think I might convince myself that 5-6 never existed. Halo Wars, Halo Reach - 4 all had good stories, with a meaning and I would also be disappointed with Halo 3s ending with never knowing what happened and Halo 4 just brings John home but at the cost of what matters most.
I also like Halo Wars 2 so maybe it is a sign that 343i has learned.
I don’t know but this game is the life or death of Halo (in my opinion) this is 343i’s last chance to prove they can make a Halo great again (let’s not relate that quote to a certain American President).

If they make the Halo Infinite story simple and make it feel like humanity is losing big time like during Halo Reach and that the Master Chief is humanity’s only hope then I think it could be a good story. They could also get rid of spartan abilities and sprint.

Whatever Halo Infinite ends up being cannot redeem Halo 5. I cannot speak for the multiplayer, I’m no expert there, but Halo 5’s story and campaign are going to still be bad no matter what Halo Infinite does. It’s not going to make up for all of the plot threads wasted for the Created. It’s not going to make Cortana’s nonsense any less a slap in the face of her character. It’s not going to make up for 343 dropping the ball and denying Osiris and Blue Team proper development. It’s not going to make up for failing to continue Chief’s character development. Halo Infinite can only benefit Halo Infinite. You can’t retroactively make something better than it was on its own merits.
