With No Man’s Sky getting a lot of updates, is there a possibility that the upcoming Halo Infinite will become the next No Man’s Sky especially if it’s getting a lot of updates?

I thought about this as well. Honestly our expectations should be extremely high. If games like NMS, Fortnite, and others can have frequently released quality content we should as well. If this is following the GAAS that they stated the bar should be no less and arguably higher because it is Xbox.

Agreed. Because No Man’s Sky just released the 5th Anniversary trailer. And it’s getting a new update again. Just imagine how cool would it be to see Halo Infinite follow in a similar way like how No Man Sky did with the updates especially when it comes to the trailers.

It needs to so they can keep Halo relevant in 10 years. We can’t have another 6 dry years.
Maybe Depends On The Size Of The Files
Not sure how you can compare Fortnite (trash) to Halo or even Boring Mans Sky.
I don’t know about calling it the next NMS but it’s definitely going to get continual updates considering they’re calling it a 10 year game.
Its going to be more like destiny the new story will come out as dlc more weapons’ and features that the community asks for will be added new maps will be added
Hopefully!
No, Infinite will hopefully not be the next NMS. NMS is more than just a persistently updated game. It’s a game who’s launch was marred by unfulfilled promises, and the game had to be updated to actually become what the marketing described it as. Infinite, thus far, hasn’t really made any promises beyond having a campaign and multiplayer (and a few other things like forge and such), which on one hand is good because it leaves less room to not follow through, but on the other it also has some people worried about how much launch content there will be. Ideally, Infinite’s launch will be satisfactory in both stability and content variety, and then it will continue to get regular, meaningful free updates for a long time after. NMS started off on the wrong foot, and Infinite should not follow that trend.

I don’t think he was implying that it become like the game. It seems like he hoping it has quality updates like NMS and that they keep expanding aspects of the game in meaningful special ways through Halo Infinite’s life cycle. NMS just released a trailer that showed how much it has grown as a game and that is most likely what inspired the post.
I hope Halo Infinite has the quality of free updates that NMS has. It should be more frequent and higher quality because of the size of the studio.

This is a good point. There are plenty of games that get persistent updates and that is really what is important here. We don’t want Infinite to have unfulfilled promises at launch and I am glad it was pushed back to avoid this. I stopped playing NMS and Cyberpunk for the same reasons. It can turn off users and no amount of updates can bring them back. Nailing the launch matters. Seeing the last flight I think it will meet many of our expectations and probably surprise us in many good ways.

Let’s assume that the upcoming Halo Infinite will have free updates. What will this updates be all about?
Is it possible that the free updates will bring in new maps and new campaign levels in Halo Infinite? Very curious to hear your thoughts.

It’s going to be using the games as a service model a la Destiny, being the platform for Halo for the next 10 years, so I’m sure there will be multiple large scale story updates in that time. I personally hope that if there are big campaign additions in the future, they do an Elite-based one with a focus on the Arbiter/Swords of Sanghelios. This is a character and group with a huge fanbase in the community that hasn’t gotten much love all things considered. Would also be the perfect time to add Elites to multiplayer in some way.

You mentioned the Arbiter and the Swords of Sanghelios. I am still hoping that we could see Arbiter coming back in Halo Infinite. It’s been a very long time since Arbiter meet Master Chief in the Halo video games.

Yeah, I’m still hoping for that too. And I’d say there’s still a decent chance, his voice actor did tease his return on twitter recently. So you never know!
Oh no… The release of No Man’s Sky was a disaster. The idea of free updates is good, just not good enough to release a terrible base game and fix it through updates.

Yeah. I don’t want HI to be poorly received like NMS was.
I’m sure the game will have its updates, but this 10 year plan thing I don’t see happening until well… it happens. You aren’t lasting that long unless you’re an mmo or do sequels to have the continued tech improvements.
in regards to NMS: another poster made a good point on it, would the updates be what they are had the game not bombed? Furthermore I believe in updates that enhance the experience rather than fixing broken promises that failed to be there at launch LALA NMS as a perfect example. I’d like infinites updates to be stuff that enhances the game and not stuff that fixes it or adds stuff that previous halo games had. I’d like to see new stuff, and creative stuff at that as well.

I really hope that for Halo Infinite, it’s supposed that Halo Infinite would last several years, and making content motivate people to keep playing Infinite.

It is very likely that the upcoming Halo Infinite will have seasons and updates. Because the entire story is set on the Zeta Halo Ring, the new Halo video game will get new maps and new campaign levels especially since it’s a very big area.
