Hi, I have a question. Let’s say if the upcoming Halo Infinite coming out this year and it’s getting a lot of positive reactions, is it possible that this could be the best Halo game ever made since Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4?
Well, I’m sure that for somebody it’s going to be the best Halo game ever.
I hope it is. Or else what’s the point of making a new game?
I mean…yes, it’s possible that Halo Infinite will be a great Halo game.
It has the longest development timeline, a brand new engine, and likely the highest budget of any Halo ever created. 343 also seems to be acutely aware of what its mistakes were in Halo 4/5 and is taking active steps to remedy those errors.
It absolutely will NOT be the best Halo for all fans because at this point, there are effectively two separate camps of fans which can’t both be pleased simultaneously.
One camp wants Halo 2 with better graphics.
The other camps wants a game that continues to innovate on mechanics/movement to keep it more in like with 2019/2020 FPS games.
343 can’t satisfy both of these crowds.

Halo 3 and Halo 2 will always be the best.

People who already have a diehard favorite almost definitely won’t change their minds, but that’s just how everything works. I don’t think it needs to be universally lauded as the best of the entire series. It just needs to bring together a majority of Halo players behind the idea that it’s good or at least better (less divisive) than 4-5.
It could be a Super Smash Bros. situation where Ultimate (Infinite) outshines the old favorite, Melee (2, 3, whatever) in almost every sense. People won’t compare it feature-to-feature with their old favorite Halo game. They’ll remember how their favorite Halo game impacted them when they were playing it the most.
Infinite will win big if it can simply move the conversational needle for the series back to a generally positive spot.
It could be and I’m sure it will be for some people…I could also win the lottery. Anything is possible man

Yes, it will be… Undoubtedly it will be the biggest halo of the series (budget)… Best graphics (4k)… And game play (new engine).
