I’m not a 343 apologist but I think they have done a great job in turning this thing around since launch, and if this keeps up, and they do things correctly, I think this could be the game that we all remember as one of the best in the series. The introduction of Warzone Firefight has made it better for me, however, they really need to rethink how they’re planning on implementing it because so far I’m not impressed. It’s a huge step back from previous Firefights.

it’s just like every mode of 343s multiplayer, it shows you the potential that it will likely never reach

The ONLY spartan ability that was in CoD first was sprint. The rest are originally Halo abilities.
I agree that they have done well in turning things around since launch, but that said it still doesn’t’ excuse the brutal lack of content, features and choices they made with Halo 5. We better not have to tell them again that people want split screen, LAN, Ranked and Social playlist, WAY better UI ( like being able to mute people pre game lobby lol being able to view medals post game) Firefight mode, Forge, developer made maps for everything!!! not remixes or forge maps (nothing wrong with forge, but not as “new” maps) Interactive and much better looking maps aka like H2A had. Those maps looked AMAZING! and so on. These things should be in AT LAUNCH. Playlists like Griftball and Infection I can understand not being in off the bat.
We can only hope 343I will remember this for Halo 6.
Halo 5 when all said and done could be up there as one of the better Halos, but it’s kind of hard to judge it that way to be honesty. I really feel like half the content we’ve gotten in these updates, we should of had at launch, like other Halo games had. It’s almost like they are still making the game post launch. It’s just… weird… lol I’m glad they are supporting the game, don’t get me wrong, but ya…

Mine would be H3, H2, H5 then I guess Reach then H4. I don’t care about Reach and H4 MP wise really so… To me they are both pretty average lol

Yeah, I stopped getting my hopes up for anything that 343 does. I was happy to hear about Warzone Firefight, but I didn’t get too excited because I knew they would mess it up somehow or do something to completely change it from what we would expect from Firefight. And, of course, they did.
Warzone Firefight is exactly what I expected 343 to do. A completely watered down PvE experience with a huge focus on the REQ system.

I think he means the enhanced movement mechanics in general, not the specific abilities themselves, which Halo never needed in the first place. Halo had its movement and shooting nearly perfected. There was absolutely no reason to change it.

No video game has ever continuously innovated the industry for 15 years imo. Kind of an unrealistic expectation. Like dating a 30 year old and expecting her/him to look 30 when they’re 45.

So are we to just expect mediocrity? I’ve never understood this, accepting that halo is just a small market game now oh well…?

True, a game can’t keep innovating forever, since there’s only so much that can be done. However, that doesn’t mean to just start following what everyone else is doing.
343 could’ve just kept Halo doing what it did best with its own mechanics. All it needed was slight tweaks and improvements, but 343 decided to do a complete overhaul, which wasn’t needed.
Simply put, no, I don’t think it’s possible at all. It’s already missed its chance at a more memorable and praiseworthy first impression and that is always an incredibly important factor in determining how a game will be remembered.
