The title is not really right, I don’t really know how to word this in a short title. I was just wondering, is there anything from another game on the market right now that you would like 343 to add to Halo. I see all these threads accusing 343 of turning Halo into Cod, but I don’t see that as a bad thing. Taking features from one of the most successful game franchises of all time is a bad thing? So, are there any features from other games that you would like added?
Personally-
I think gametypes that have the size and scope of a Battlefield match would be awesome. 12 on 12 battles over huge maps, with phantoms and banshees fighting pelicans and hornets, with snipers hiding in the hills sniping anyone that tries to run across open land. I think it would be pretty cool.
I am going to group all of these together under the condition that if they were added, they would not be progression systems, they would be unlocked fully from the start.
1.Weapon Attachments would be a cool addition. Now, I understand, “This isn’t Halo!”. However, I think it would be a great addition, as long as every weapon and every attachment is unlocked from the start. This is the problem with Call of Duty, and where Halo is going wrong as well. People shouldn’t get better stuff just for playing a lot. I shouldn’t get extended mags for being a high rank, or get a better mod. Everyone should be equal, people should only get aesthetic choices for ranking up.
2.A skill tree, now here’s what really makes me mad about this. This is a good idea, it would allow people to tailor their skill tree toward their playstyle and play how they want. This is exactly what 343 is saying about specializations, it just makes me mad that they have made it progression. You have to reach the higher rank to get the item that makes you even better than anyone else, which makes no sense. Hence, why I think a skill tree would work if people could choose every skill from the start all the way up to the top of the tree.
> I wouldn’t call CoD ‘‘one of the most successfull franchises’’ I’d rather call it overrated, and people buy it because it is too easy to play.

> BR for Mid
> DMR / Sniper for long

Spawing with a sniper is quite useless when a submachine gun could do the job just as good and be useful in more areas.
One of the reasons CoD doesn’t appeal to me. Barely any weapon diversity. Other than weapons being stronger or faster thsn others, they all seem decent for all situations. What you’d expect to be power weapons aren’t very useful, like the Sniper. Shotgun is the only one with diversity, not that similar to the rest, but the other weapons still fill its role pretty good too.
I’d argue (on the issue of inequality with the mods and specializations) that it’d be fine as long as they implement a very good matchmaking system that puts people with the same mods and such together instead of with more/less skilled people.
On the actual topic, you know what I’d like? A more open-world Halo game, with more RPG elements to it. Possibly where you fly around freelance and take on different missions, using the rewards to buff up your ship and get better equipment for a crew you put together from other freelance Jackals, Grunts, Humans, Elites, etc. I know what you’re thinking (Mass Effect ripoff!), but in detail, it wouldn’t be very similar to it. But it’d have to be a spin-off. The main trilogy should stay strictly FPS.
