Could H5 benefit from Story DLC?

Title says it all. I think it would be a great way to broaden the co-op experience and maybe even fill in some holes about certain events and/or characters. What do you guys think? Any ideas? Be creative! Just absolutely no Tornado guns, okay! xD

Their studio head already stated they have no plans to come out with story DLC.

Oops! Sorry I was unaware, How disappointing!

I agree that it’s disappointing, as I would like to see an improved second season of Spartan Ops (which counts as story, in my opinion), but there’s also the chance that just because they don’t plan to doesn’t mean that they necessarily won’t at some point.

I did really like Spartan Ops in halo 4, and wish they did a second season. If 343 adds that to the game I would happy.

The Studio Head is freaking wrong.

From Redbull’s interview with Josh Holmes, their creative director (excuse me, one of the articles listed him as studio head):

> The bad news is that despite the success of Halo 3 spin-offs such as Halo 3: OSDT and Halo: Reach, no stand-alone episodic content is in the pipeline for Halo 5. “While we’re always looking for new ways to expand the Halo universe, we do not currently have any plans to release future campaign content for Halo 5: Guardians,” says Holmes.

Hardly reassuring, but they seriously need to add some prequel content so it helps connect and flow with the campaign.

They said that have no CURRENT plans for story DLC. I expect that to change in the future since Halo is on a 3 year cycle now.

I think they definitely should.

Adding prequel content means no one buys their comics or books!!11

I would love for it to change, but as of right now, that’s their official stance. I don’t agree with their decision, I’m just relaying it.

It would of been nice to have more missions with the blue team

More Missions with blue team, more dialog or at least a prolog that explains who and what is going on.

I want more story, 343, explain plot!!!

And should we be forced to? Absolutely not. Books and comics can provide greater detailed stories and further background on characters and events, but we shouldn’t need to know them to understand the story the videogame tries to tell. If you have to read an outside source to understand a videogame’s plot than you have failed as a writer (ex. See Destiny’s Grimoire cards only accessible on their website).

I was surprised to see there wouldn’t be any story related DLC. I thought they set up Arbiter for it perfectly.

We absolutely need it, considering the incredibly short game we got, and how suddenly we got dropped into Halo 5 from 4, like what happened to Halsey’s “revenge?” how did Chief reunite with blue team? Can we focus more on what they were doing throughout halo 5’s campaign while we were running around with Locke? Can the “standby” missions get more stuff in them, like actual conversations or juicy bits of story?

There is so much 343 could do with the story right now.

At the very least, they can give us Spartan Ops 2.0 and give us a idea what happened to Fireteam Crimson. They played an incredibly important role in Halo 4’s post story, being as important as being Commander Palmer’s personal special forces unit. Unless they died, which they never so much as mentioned, there is no reason they dont have a role on Infinity. (I’m also a tad disappointed that Crimson was not the squad that had to hunt down Blue Team. It would have been a bit of a RPG, but it would have been so much more engaging, even if you didn’t change how the story unfolded at all and simply swapped Locke for your own spartan.)

Even if they aren’t adding it, a story DLC detailing Osiris and Blue Team’s journeys and how they met/ got together.

Seriously, even a few cutscenes would suffice this.
