If we fight Forerunners or Precursors wouldn’t we lose really really fast?? They are way more advanced then us, one shot from them could probably go right through chiefs shields, armour and entire body. Maybe an ancient enemy has a lot to do with the new threat but I don’t think we could actually fight them directly.

I think we’d lose if we were attacked en masse, but, hey, we’re playing as the luckiest guy in the universe: Chief.
I dont really think we will worry about forerunners being enemys and if they were it would be like fighting the covenant again but the precursors are diffrent they are extremly powerfull and have reated one of the chiefs worst enemies

You might want to repeat that in your head a few times. The Forerunners will be like the Covenant??? No, the Covenant is a joke compared to the Forerunners, I don’t know much about the precursors but from what I’ve heard they’d be an even bigger threat.
Damage seen in H2 and H3 would probably be used.
Covie gun damage is most realistic in CE imo.
Otherwise, holy -Yoink-, I wouldn’t want to fight Forerunners, Precursors at all if they can 1-shot me or are like the Heretic leader.
So if Covies appear in H4, their weapons damage will be akin to CE: often negligible except in large numbers.
