Could Cortana have been saved in Halo 4?

I wonder if things could have be different ? If John sucesseed to stop the Didact and return on Earth, could Halsey have be able to save her ? Would she use the cloned brain she hide on Reach ? In that case, this would only give her 7 more years

It’s mentioned in dialogue after you crash on Requiem and are driving away that the plan was to get back to Halsey which could allow them to “recompile my neural matrix”; which would repair Cortana. However the fight with Didact scuppers that.

Also was Halsey on Earth at the time?

Halsey spend some time on the Infinity and on the station Ivanoff at the time. She wasn’t on Ivanof for sure or she would be dead. When she returned on the Infinity in Spartan ops, it’s seems she was’nt here since a long time, so I do’nt know where she was.
Cortana and Master Chief didn’t know where she was at the time, they just suppose the fatest way to find her was to go on Earth and ask. Cortana was really bad at Hhalo 4 end, I don’t know if she would habe ba able to survive the time Halsey arrive adn find a solution

Honestly I feel like this was just cortana making stuff up to keep chief positive.

If all you had to do was ‘recompile their neural matrix’ to fix rampancy, I imagine the UNSC would be doing this fairly often rather than relying on new brains to make smart AI. Yet i dont see it being brought up anywhere outside of halo 4.

This was possible apparently only because her organ donor, Halsey, was alive. I regret to don’t see it being explained anywhere outside of Halo 4 too.

As for the UNSC, I think they are capable of letting die AI by safety. An immortal AI could be too powerfull
