I’ve been listening to the Hunt the Truth series again, and I thought about how awesome this premise would have been if it were implemented into the final product. I really want to know how the story would have gone in the chief’s point of view had it actually gone that path, so I would just love it if 343 released their original idea for H5’s campaign.
Perhaps 343 could release the original H5 script in a collectors edition of Halo: Infinite, which would really reinvigorate special editions and actually give customers more of a reason to buy them other than have them contain boring files based in the Halo universe that you look at once and then forget about. Halo 2: Collectors Edition and Halo Reach: Limited Edition did very well with their exclusive content, so I feel Infinite should have equal payoff.
Bungie sort of revealed H2’s original script here, so could 343 be EXTRA generous and give us the whole original H5 script, just so those who really wanted the rest of the story could have some sort of conclusion? PLEASE???
I’d like that a lot too, I’ve been wondering about Halo 5’s original story ever since seeing some concept art videos on YouTube. I’d expect (and hope) it was a more logical continuation after that awesome story of Halo 4, i.e. no Cortana revivals and Didact still as a villain. (I’m aware of the Escalation story arc but as Chief said regarding Didact: ‘He’s contained’.)
I actually encourage people to read this guy’s blog post about Halo 5’s villain and how the campaign would’ve been so much better with such a small change (That is replace Cortana with Didact and Warden with Mendicant Bias). A very interesting read IMO.

Incase of not sarcasm:
From the MCC, the thought has been that chief did something to brand him a traitor, and that Locke was out to bring him back, dead if necessary.
This goes in line with the early statement that Halo 5 was to be the darkest Halo yet.
Remember the reveal? Chief’s cloak?
It was said to represent him hiding from everything.
Check out all the Achievement artwork, it leans towards concept art for me.
It could be a brain ghost of mine, but I vagualey remember statements that chief and locke missions were equal, in some way.
That didn’t feel true when playing the game. So either they cut a lot of content, or they measured that in some odd way.
There’s also a youtuber who did a few videos on a supposed last minute rewrite of the story. The original allegedly being too complex according to Microsoft. Someone may be along to link to it.
I don’t know. If people wanted it just for their reading pleasure then that would be one thing. But we both know how many people there are who, given tangible proof, would latch onto that script like some kind of holy relic proving indisputably how bad Halo 5 was, how inept 343 is, and how ripped-off we, the customers, are. Personally I’d really rather not have to hear any of that again, especially bolstered with evidence.

I thought of this while making this thread, but maybe if Infinite turns out to be the greatest thing ever, then people might feel H5’s retailed campaign was a necessary evil in order to bring about the awesomeness of Halo Infinite. I can’t see any harm in that if the original H5 script was included in a special edition of Infinite. But still, there’s always someone…

If Halo Infinite’s story is good, it won’t be because of Halo 5’s story. It would just be them salvaging the story as best as they could.
