Those are more likely to make people leave, but seeing that skull effect makes me not want to play.
I don’t mind the cat ears since they’re still armor, but I can see why people wouldn’t want to see them.
It’s probably not much different from how the armors in Halo 5 didn’t look very fitting in a Halo game.
Just to chime in on your conversation with @ShinoKeiyakusha here.
I feel like their comments are perfectly representing the way I feel. I love the cosmetics and was super stoked about them in Reach, particularly since they showed them in cutscene and I felt like I got to have myself represented in the universe. I bought the season one battle pass, but the store has been a bit outrageous to me.
I actually stopped playing a few weeks ago when the cyber showdown stuff came out. At this point between cat ears and cyber mowhawks the game is just too ridiculous and over the top. If I had a toggle, I’d come back and buy the next battle pass. Without that toggle, I likely won’t return to this game except for the next campaign (which hopefully will be better than the last.)
Id pay up to 20$ to not see all this bling bling BS when playing my favorite franchise.
It’d be helpful to me, but I would say this problem is more important:
If both issues were resolved, and the bugs were fixed, I’d probably play more, but right now, I don’t feel like playing the game much.
Agreed.
It has all really left a sour taste in my mouth. The battle pass/f2p/no base game progression was all pretty hard to swallow, and it was the last straw to find that Halo Reach armors were being cut from the BP to sell separately in the store.
For me, the last straw might’ve been seeing how they’re going about the shop testing.
Yep, love that we’re ‘testing’ a shops prices and more than likely won’t be getting any partial kickbacks or full kickbacks in the form of credits, so now they’re making another division of players: Ones that paid $20 for 2100 credits (I think that’s the exchange rate) who paid 2000 credits for one chroma whilst other peoples $20 is going further because they can buy more after the price changes.
To be fair, we haven’t seen one of those $20 skins come back after the cheaper prices-
But if that’s the word 343 is using- “Testing”
Idk, good customer service to me would be to throw the ‘testers’ the difference in-
Ah, nevermind. That threads been made and gone lmao
What bothers me is that they’re testing lower prices, then individual items at high prices.
They know people wanted bundles and separate items at low prices, as well as a larger shop selection, but they won’t do it.
Instead they try to trick people into thinking they’re getting a deal with a $10 coating, a $7 helmet or 3 AI colors for $2.
If they want to keep doing that, I’m just going to stop playing.
There are better games around, and while I like Halo, it isn’t worth dealing with their schemes.
Eyeballs literally any other game with a ingame shop that respects it’s players whilst also maintaining good customization thru progression
Please, for the love of God. I don’t think I can stand to see another neon pink cat ears spartan or another pepsi samurai with a holographic mohawk. It’s just such an eyesore on this game’s gorgeous art direction. I don’t care if people want to buy and use that kind of stuff, player choice is great sure, but I have a set idea of what Halo should look like, MP included (especially if this game’s multiplayer is going to be canon to main story DLCs/Co-op.)
This is a particularly good point. If the MP becomes fully canon and especially if they add a mode like Warzone or something and try to make it actually about real in-canon combat, this stuff just can’t fly.
At least to me, the poll makes it clear that there is enough demand for cosmetic toggles to include them. It would certainly bring me back to the game, and get me to buy the next battle pass. I’ve been out since Cyber Showdown started putting neon mohawks everywhere.
Doesn’t seem like enough people want it to make it a priority. If 60-65% wanted it, than yeah, maybe they could work on it so it pops up around S3 but there are much bigger issues.
At the end of the day you are really just using the same argument people do against crosscore
“I don’t want to see x in my game”
I mean. Is that argument somehow… invalid?
Would it bother you if I had what I wanted, and you had what you wanted?
No, it wouldn’t bother me at all if you had a cosmetics toggle so you wouldn’t see stuff you didn’t like. I just don’t think it should be a focus of theirs right now.
Technically. There’s literally nothing wrong with crosscore customization, people who are against it are just gatekeeping because they don’t want to see that running around in “their” game. It is a public game so you can do whatever you want in it as long as it doesn’t affect others gameplay
Fair enough. I personally haven’t heard anyone arguing against crosscore customization, but that seems like a weak argument against it.
Your point about it not being a high priority is valid, some part of me is certainly just venting. If the game was doing super well, the campaign was amazing, and the progression system was awesome, I think it would be easier to overlook the more eccentric cosmetic content (especially if there were more PVE gamemodes where I could play as my Spartan and not see whacky cosmetics.)
I can’t help but feeling like they prioritized money and resources into these things instead of other things I consider more important. I mean hell, there is concept art of the cat ears from YEARS ago… I wish that the had been focusing more on Halo type content then, because so much of it is missing in the campaign.
Remember when we bought games without expecting them to conform to our every individual expectation?
There are people who are against it because it will “ruin the aesthetic of the cores”
There are also some who are against it due to clipping/floating, which is fair but those things are easily worked around.
The game definitely needs a lot of work, the gameplay itself is incredible. That’s partially why I think so many people are upset about the rest of it, because, if the gameplay wasn’t good then everything else is pointless. But the core gameplay is amazing, it is just sad how they handled the rest of it
Yeah, there’s so much missing from the launch, I’d rather have no events at and a full game at launch than multiple events drip feeding content with a poor launch
Remember when we bought games and that was it? We just had it? No gouging for all of the other content that should’ve been included? Lol.
Remember when Halo didn’t have cat ears and neon mohawks?
At least let me toggle the godawful kill effects. It’s one thing to let users adorns themselves with a bunch of silly crap. It’s complete BS that they allow users to purchase special effects that are only applied to their opponents.
as someone who has always hated armor effects and other non-canon cosmetics (haunted helmet, cat ears) in halo, we really need a toggle for non-canon items, the bright flashy kill effects and spartans covered in glowing sparkling electricity/fire/whatever or armor components that don’t exist in the lore is obnoxious and immersion breaking
