Sorry, but I think it’s pointless for Halo: Infinite.
I’m totally in favor of an option to turn off outlines even at my own expense though. Just make the friendly markers higher contrast and it’ll work out.

Shall we? Lol.
I would personally say that since some of Bungie’s armor effects have been copied or ported over by 343, and they are now delving into the cyberpunk aesthetic, cat ears, etc. as well, it feels like it certainly has been taken further than Bungie ever did.
I would rather they didn’t make any of that content and just focused on making a good halo game, but I know some people like it so I just want them to be able to have it their way while I have it mine. If people nix toggles, then I’d be calling for this content to not be in the game. Toggles really are the best option to appease everyone.
Why are people voting against having this toggle? If someone still wants to see off-centre mohawks then they can. Some people won’t want to so give them the option.
I kind of like to see the paid players so I can harass them on Comms.
At the moment I’m in favor of cosmetic toggles only because of how badly this game runs on PC. I wouldn’t mind all those fancy effects if the game was actually optimized.
what cant stand seein some cat ears?
I would like a toggle for armour colours so that we can have Red vs Blue back.
@Deltasaurus_Rex, it’s unnecessary in Halo Infinite. It would only make sense for the memey stuff like cat ears and mohawks. If they did add a toggle, I bet even things like Yoroi would go with it.
You just need to be patient.
At some stage they will release black armour with a red, gold, or green trim. And one of those obnoxious pointy helmets.
Then EVERYONE will be running around in those. Forever. And you will never have to worry about cat’s ears, bunny tails, or chest tassles ever again.
I don’t see why people are soo opposed to this, it would have no visible affect for those that don’t need it. On the other hand, cosmetics DO have an effect on game play for some players.
The redish pink armor color is at a distance indistinguishable from an enemy (red) shielded player that has damage done to their shield; the shield and armor are the same color. The armor color should not impact my ability to easily see the shield status of an enemy player, I have good eyesight, but i can see this putting those with sight issues at a further disadvantage. This can be taken advantage of by players to trick others to attack, thinking their shields are weak. The same issue exists for blue armor and friendly players, but is less of an issue. Cosmetic features should not interfere with game play like I feel this does.
Basically in my experience on this forums, it amounts to a self-centered idea that it it is important that if they choose cat ears, WE have to look at it.
Some players will argue personal expression or somehow, oddly, free speech? It really just comes down to spite it seems. Some people want this kind of silly stuff in the games, and in my experience many of them enjoy the division it creates in the community and take pleasure in ruining the experience of others.
It’s funny how having certain armor pieces was once a badge of honor for dedication to the game, and now it just tells us who to laugh at for buying gear
I like seeing odd things in the game, as long as they don’t go far from the style, but I think toggles would be good.
The only thing I’d probably toggle at this point though is the kill effects.
It keeps some players happy, which keeps them around and contributes to purchases from the shop and of the Battle Pass as a result.
Let them go through a list of items they want to toggle.
They could also have options to toggle categories (like attachments, armor effects and kill effects).
I’ve seen other games do something similar with other things.
Also, I don’t think it would be as bad as you think, since they could add a dropdown menu or add the “Toggle Visibility” option to the item UI, like how they have “Try On” and other things.
If they added the latter, a dropdown menu could still be used for category toggles (armor, textures, effects, etc.).
Just wait until Easter. I can only guess bunny ears and cotton tails are in our future.
Oh God I hope so.
I would pay heaps to run around in bunny costume.
And even more to be a playboy bunny.
I would be happy with a simple Halo CE style mode; every player has same model, player color is overriden to team color in team games. As a programmer, I know this is not be too difficult to toggle between custom model or vanilla model.
I don’t like the cat ears and junk; but I can tolerate it. I am bothered that the shield color is the same color as some armor colors. It is hard to see shield status of enemies.
I love that this poll is currently balanced perfectly 50/50. I think it does a great job at exemplifying how divisive this kind of content is. Thanks for voting everyone!
It keeps some players happy, keeping them around to contribute to shop purchases?
I disagree. It might keep them happy, and playing - but these folks are of a MAJORITY mind it seems that they don’t want to see cosmetics, so I doubt adding a toggle would actually increase shop sales.
It might do the opposite - people who wanna buy might be less inclined if other people never see their drip.
Also, an extensive toggle on each item is a lot more work than we think.
It seems a lot of people do want to see cosmetics, but only if they’re realistic (no cat ears, flaming skulls, etc.).
So, they would probably still want to buy cosmetics.
Maybe, but annoying people with things like kill effects, and armor effects that make it difficult to see shield statuses is likely to make others leave, which in turn would make the people buying those leave.
I don’t think it would be.
For experienced programmers, I’d say they could add that in a month or less depending on how they’ve set things.
Good points, but I can’t say I fully agree with them.
In the end it comes down to this:
-This is a new game, not a legacy one that needs to have it’s ‘essence’ preserved.
-343 makes money off the cosmetics.
-I doubt 343 would want to reduce visibility of the items that make them money.
A new game in an old series.
It’s not like 343 called this something other than Halo.
That’s true, but they won’t if the cosmetics make people leave.
Lack of content, pricing still not right, bugs, etc. are much more likely to have people leave than being ‘forced’ to see cat ears.
IMO.
