Armors should be given through achievments and challenges. And since Infinite is an open world, it should also be found in secrets. It just seems to be more satisfying to have it that way.
It should NEVER be RNG. And having the system in Reach can be supported with a type of currency for attachments…

This is fair from a consumer perspective to desire all armors to be earnable through specific actions, but it doesn’t really match up with smart modern business practices. There’s a somewhat famous psychological study that I can’t remember the specific details of but after some Googling here’s what I got:
> At the heart of the Hook Model is a powerful cognitive quirk described by B.F. Skinner in the 1950s, called a variable schedule of rewards. Skinner observed that lab mice responded most voraciously to random rewards. The mice would press a lever and sometimes they’d get a small treat, other times a large treat, and other times nothing at all. Unlike the mice that received the same treat every time, the mice that received variable rewards seemed to press the lever compulsively.

In other words, don’t be surprised if some sort of random element is incorporated into Halo Infinite. After all, there’s a reason there’s a gambling addiction hotline and support group- randomness can be addictive to many people.
Pls for the love of all things good bring back vid-master for Recon. Or an even harder challenge for an even cooler armour or something which is based on achievements and not stupid brain dead grinding.
I agree, the RNG REQ system in H5 really turned me away from Halo for a bit, and it was only MCC’s great battlepass system that reeled me back in. Unfortunately the F2P announcement is almost a confirmation of heavy monetization in multiplayer. I think if they are going to sell items in store or thru a BP, I think there should also be a way for players to earn those same items fairly. I will be sorely disappointed if they pay-wall armor or skins and not have an option for unlocking them through play. Or if they make an unreasonable time limit to unlock items in order to discourage a grind. Only time will tell.

A random RNG way to unlock armour is yet another reason to not buy the game. Everyone said they hated this, even the youtubers who are bought out by 343.

I’m not advocating for RNG, or discussing any youtubers opinions. All I’m saying is it wouldn’t be completely unexpected if HI had an element of randomness to it because that’s what modern gaming knows to be addictive. Addiction is a factor in player retention- getting players to return to the game for long periods.

Games these days really do be trying to appeal to a different crowd I guess.
Cosmetics are not the same depending on the game or franchise. In some franchises, monetizing how your character looks is perfectly reasonable. But customization is at the heart of the Halo multiplayer experience. Its not something that should be taken lightly or milked for profit. I think people who promote MTX for cosmetics show a lack of understanding of what makes Halo special, or at least what made it special. Video games don’t need microtransactions to make significant profit. This practice has only become the norm because players allowed it. The most anticipated title this year is Cyberpunk 2077 and this game doesn’t have microtransactions. Players need to stand up and fight back with their wallets. Halo Infinite does not need and should not have any microtransactions. It shouldn’t have a F2P multiplayer and it shouldn’t be accessible for free through game pass. Any Halo fan would pay full price for a quality title.
I’m sure it will include both. There will be armor to earn through achievements as well as other armor that you can unlock through paid passes.
The lootboxes they already confirmed I’m personally fine with as long as items retain rarity (can get duplicates of more common items). In Halo 5, the rarity is essentially worthless because everyone unlocks everything eventually. Using a system like PUBG, you could essentially unlock 10 Seeker helmets (because they are ugly and common) before unlocking the Fenrir helmet. Of course, this system should just be a subset of all items.
I know some people are completionists but when everyone has a cool thing…nobody really has a cool thing anymore.

I liked how they did achilles with H5 as well. A group challenge.

I like the concept for how Achilles was earned in Infinite, I just feel like the execution was not great.

That’s fair, some of the requirements were very dumb. Like the mongoose kills… yikes.

Yeah, some challenges were just stupid, not even necessarily hard. On top of that some challenges heavily encouraged spawn camping and farming and helped kill Warzone and a lot of Objective modes. With some tweaking the system would be perfect.
I think nearly all armor should be available with credits/points/EXP earned from playing the game, and not locked behind an achievement wall. That way, players can see exactly what armor pieces they want, view the cost, and have something to grind for.
Other, more exotic/legendary armor pieces could be unlocked by completing achievements like LASO, and ‘vidmaster’/ time trial runs.
Insignias, weapon skins(should they be present) and other COSMETIC ONLY flair could be purchased through the online store, if that’s what some players are wanting. But having to reach a certain level to unlock additional armor pieces could push semi-casual players away; “i have reach level 90 to get the opportunity to unlock this visor?” Kinda was my biggest pet peev with Reach, other than armor lock.

I think that is actually pretty awesome. Still keep it all cosmetic though. Finally armor that isn’t alll UNSC but forerunner spartan armor or covenant tech spartan armor?

We had perfect and helioskrill which were forerunner and sangheili designs. I thought those were cool ideas.
